Ms. C.'s First Grade Class
Welcome to Room 25 First Grade
September 8-11
This Week:
We had a wonderful week. It was nice to meet some of you at Back to School Night. This week students reviewed letters and sounds as well as beginning and ending sounds. We read stories, "Jack's Talent", "Back to School", "No David! Goes to School" and "The Awful Aardvarks Go To School". Students discussed text features and were able to distinguish the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
In Math, we began our calendar math routine. Students practiced addition and subtract facts to 5. We reviewed counting to 100 and patterns.
In S.S., we discussed school as part of the community and the roles of members in the school and the community. We discussed 9/11 and the impact it has had on our society.

About Ms. C.
It is so nice to meet you! My name is Ms. Cartagena, but the kids call me Ms. C. I am in my sixth year of teaching and my fourth year teaching 1st grade. I love what I do and I especially love working with kids and helping them grow. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and in African American History. I have Masters Degrees in both Administration of Justice and in Education. Although I did not originally study to become a teacher, I have done so and continue to learn and develop in any way that I can. I promise to stay in contact as much as I can and I hope that you are comfortable enough to reach out for any questions or concerns.
