January 2019 - Happy New Year!
Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone has spent a wonderful Winter Break enjoying time with family and friends. All the best in 2019!
A big thank you to the parents who took time to come in for the “Coffee and Conversation” with the administration here at SHS. It was a nice turn out with many great discussions. We will be hosting another one in the near future!
Time is flying...our seniors will be graduating before we know it! We are beginning the process of preparing for the upcoming school year. This Wednesday, during Hornet Time we start our upcoming scheduling discussion for our current Juniors. Be sure to read below in our Guidance portion for the timelines for student scheduling.
I hope everyone has a great month, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at the school with any questions or concerns.
Have a great day and Go Hornets!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE
All juniors will take an official SAT as part of the MME (Michigan Merit Examination) on April 9, 2019. This is a reportable score for colleges. There is no fee for students for this April 2019 sitting of the SAT nor is there a need to register. All juniors are required by the State of Michigan to take the SAT in April 2019. There will be announcements notifying students of the dates, times and location of testing.
All high school transcripts will be issued electronically. Current students and alumni need to go to www.parchment.com to create an account. To view a tutorial on setting up a parchment account, please go to http://www.parchment.com/studentkit/. Once you have created an account, then request your transcript from Saline High School and then send it to your destinations and continue on to checkout. Please note that the Parchment Transcript does NOT contain any standardized testing scores. Test scores need to be sent directly from the testing agency. Go to www.actstudent.org (ACT) or www.collegeboard.com (SAT) to request these scores.
Michigan College Guide
The Michigan College Guide for Fall 2018 is now available online in hard copy in the Guidance office and online at www.michigancollegeguide.com. This comprehensive publication offers a profile of each public and private four-year college in Michigan.
Local Scholarships for Seniors

Naviance is a new college & career exploration tool for all Saline High School students. Login information can be found on the schedule that students picked up in August. Students can view their Family Connection page http://connection.naviance.com/salinehs. The username is the student’s SHS username and password is their student number. Counselors are working with each grade level on college & career preparation.
Course Selection Scheduling for 2019 - 2020
The course selection scheduling process will begin soon for the 2019-2020 school year. Each class will have a Class Meeting where course selection materials will be distributed. Students are to review the materials with their parents, log into PowerSchool and input their course selections during their class’ open enrollment window. Students will receive their assigned appointment times at their respective class meetings (see Class Meetings schedule below) and should plan to arrive on time in the Guidance Office for their individual appointments.
