January 2019 - Happy New Year!

Big picture

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone has spent a wonderful Winter Break enjoying time with family and friends. All the best in 2019!

A big thank you to the parents who took time to come in for the “Coffee and Conversation” with the administration here at SHS. It was a nice turn out with many great discussions. We will be hosting another one in the near future!

Time is flying...our seniors will be graduating before we know it! We are beginning the process of preparing for the upcoming school year. This Wednesday, during Hornet Time we start our upcoming scheduling discussion for our current Juniors. Be sure to read below in our Guidance portion for the timelines for student scheduling.

I hope everyone has a great month, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at the school with any questions or concerns.

Have a great day and Go Hornets!

German Club visits Chicago

Members of German club traveled to Chicago December 7 to experience the Christkindlmarkt. German vendors outfitted Daley Plaza with booths filled with traditional holiday wares and food. Students started their field trip at Millennium park and then explored the Christkindlmarkt. They viewed a piece of the Berlin Wall, located at the Western Brown Line CTA station, and visited the D.A.N.K. Haus (Deutscher-Amerikanischer National Kongress), a German-American cultural museum. Students also visited a German grocery store and then enjoyed potato pancakes, bratwurst and sauerkraut at Laschet's Inn. German Machine Tools of America and Liebherr donated generously to the costs of the trip, including the charter bus.
