Mission Statement
Lent
Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the season of Lent. During Lent, we gather together as a school community each Friday for Stations of the Cross at 2:30 pm. Please join us if you can!
Mark your calendar for our 7th grade Living Stations of the Cross. This will be performed for our parishioners on Friday, April 12 at 7:00 pm and on Good Friday at 12:15 pm. Our School Advisory Council will host the Lenten Meal on April 12 following Stations of the Cross. If you'd like to volunteer at the Lenten Meal, please contact AJ Meier at ajmeier430@gmail.com.
Please be assured of my prayers during this season of Lent. May we all be filled with God's grace and experience a conversion that brings us closer to Him.
In Christ,
Mrs. Natalie Johnson
Principal
House Bill 2621 and Senate Bill 407
We need your help with House Bill 2621 and Senate Bill 407! Both bills would raise the cap on Oklahoma’s Equal Opportunity Scholarship program, which encourages private funds to increase options for students in public schools and nontraditional schools.
For each of the past several years, Oklahoma’s Opportunity Scholarship Program has reached the cap on eligible donations established when the legislation was first passed. This has limited the amount of donations the fund can receive for which donors can receive a tax credit.
HB2621 and SB407 would each raise the cap on the Opportunity Scholarship Program. Both bills have each been passed out of their respective committees in the House and the Senate and will receive a floor vote by their respective chamber. This is where your help and the help of your school community is needed.
Below is the link for a call to action campaign for HB 2621/SB 407 to allow you to easily contact their legislators in support.
We have an amazing opportunity to both learn about Down Syndrome and help the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DSACO) with their Annual Fundraising Gala. We will have the director of the organization in our building to educate us of Down Syndrome in March. We would like to present her with sock puppets to decorate the tables at their Gala. In order to do this, we need your help. Each child in the school will need a pair of silly, bright, colorful socks. There is also a signup below with a list of the "extras' that we need to finish the project. We do ask that you send them to school by March 11th so that we are able to purchase what is still needed. Thank you so much for supporting our students as they help others.
Blessings,
Mrs. Amy Johnson
We have 21 student re-enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year!

Dispensation of Medication at School
Dear SJN Families,
I wanted to reach out and notify you of changes to our current practice of dispensing over the counter and prescription medication. In the past, we have accepted parent consent to give students acetaminophen or ibuprofen (Tylenol and Advil, Motrin) via the telephone. Through conversations with our Director of Accreditation, I have come to realize that this is an area that needs to be tidied up.
Please know that we are able to dispense these types of over-the-counter or prescription medication to your child, if and only if you have completed the Medical Consent Form as well as provided the medication to the school in the original bottle. Parents and families are required to supply both over the counter and prescription medications to be administered. The school may not dispense medication to a child unless the medication is provided to the school by the parent or guardian. Please complete the required form and provide the medication to the office if needed. An excerpt reviewing procedures for medication from our SJN School Handbook is below. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I appreciate your help with this!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Natalie Johnson
Principal
Medication
SJNCS does not have a school nurse on staff. As a general rule, medication should be administered by the parent/guardian before or after school. Parents may come to the school to administer the medication. Guidelines for school personnel to dispense medicine are as follows:
Prescription medication or over the counter medication as needed, will be dispensed ONLY if it is in its original container with the student’s name, name of student’s doctor, frequency, dose and date. The parent must sign a SJNCS medical consent form.
If a student has a serious illness that might require emergency medicine to be administered, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide training to school employees regarding its administration.
Parents/guardians are required to deliver the medicine to the school office. Medicine should never be sent with the student. Failure to comply with this endangers all students. Violators face expulsion.
All medicines are kept locked and out of reach of students.
Designated school employees who administer medicine in accordance with state guidelines shall not be liable for civil damages for any personal injuries incurred by the student as a result of administering the medicine or failure to administer the medicine.
Inhalers
By State law, students may carry and self-administer an inhaled asthma medication. To do so parents must EACH SCHOOL YEAR:
Complete the Asthma Medication Authorization form (available in the school office).
Provide a written statement from the physician treating the student that the student has asthma and is capable of and has been instructed in the proper method of and self-administration of the medication.
If these requirements are not completed, the student MAY NOT have the inhaler in his/her possession.
