Miss Courtney's Class
This week in class...
This week we began talking about wind. We noticed it outside and inside. We made our own wind using books and experimenting with moving feathers and different objects. We took these different objects and used a blow dryer to create wind to move them. The kids placed the objects onto a red tray for "no , it didn't blow in the wind" or the green tray for "yes, it did blow in the wind." We did blow painting using straws and water colors. We worked on identifying colors, fine motor, making choices and using our breath! It is so hard to blow our breath out. Imagine teaching your kids to blow their noses...this a hard concept! Blowing our breath out of our mouths can also be challenging. This was hard, but it is something that excerises our lungs and is good for our bodies! We worked on our own trays and were cautious about spreading germs.
Our favorite things this week included exploring a real wind machine that Mrs Strohl's class lent us. We put in light and heavy objects and predicted if the wind tunnel would blow them or not. We took the top off of the tunnel and the leaves, feathers, balls and disks blew everywhere. It was so much fun. Again, we had to work on taking turns. This is just as important as learning our abc's or other academic tasks. We are learning that although we have our own plan, sometime we must follow the group plan. We are a community of learners in preschool and we all must " get along!" ☺️
We also loved bringing the snow inside on Friday. What crazy weather! Some of us touched it, we watched it and got all loud and REALLY EXCITED!!! We tasted it as it fell and we threw some snowballs too. It was a great day on Friday!
