All the buzz about what's happening with your eighth-grader.

The eighth-grade team is excited to have your student learning with us this year! You will receive a weekly update from our team about classroom lessons and activities, as well as information about any and all events that are going on at the middle school.

Please allow us to introduce ourselves!

Barb Barkho:

Hello! My name is Barb Barkho. This is my 22nd year of teaching; my 18th year at FMS. I teach Math 8 and Advanced Math. I have two boys, one in high school and one out of school. I am a Student Council Co-Advisor and have been for over 10 years.

Ryan Stuhlmann:

My name is Ryan Stuhlmann and I am very excited to be teaching 8th Grade Mathematics this year at Fulton Middle School! I have a background in Computer Science and Information Technology, but my true passion is teaching mathematics. My undergraduate degree in education is from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

St. Louis is where I grew up and where I have family, but Fulton is my new home. This is a wonderful, wholesome community, and it is my privilege to educate your children. In my math classroom, we focus on developing strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. We learn that everyone's contribution to the math discussion is equally important and valuable.

Emily Cathey:

My name is Emily Cathey and I have been at FMS for 9 years. I absolutely love teaching 8th grade ELA, and helping your child become the best possible reader, writer, and person this school year. I originally grew up in Michigan, and graduated with my undergraduate degree in Secondary English Education from Western Michigan University. I moved to Missouri in 2006, and finished my masters degree in Administration from William Woods in 2014.

I have three wonderful daughters. My oldest is in 1st grade at Bartley Elementary, my middle daughter is in preschool at FEC, and my youngest is 6 months.

I enjoy camping, biking, swimming, playing and watching sports. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Russ Pearcy:

My name is Russ Pearcy and I am excited to teach your students in ELA class in my second year at FMS. I am a Mizzou graduate with both an undergraduate and masters from the University of Missouri. I am originally from Texas and Iowa.

This is an exciting year at FMS. This year we will be completing more projects that your students will design. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I cannot wait to hear from you.

Lucy Shrout:

My name is Mrs. Lucinda Shrout. This is my 21st year teaching science at FMS. I hope you and your child are as excited about this school year as I am. This year will be filled with learning and fun.

I am married and together we have a nine year old son who attends Bush Elementary School. I graduated from William Woods University with a major in education and a minor in equestrian science. I am originally from Iowa and am a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Along with teaching, I am very involved in a wide variety of organizations at the middle school and throughout the district.

Joan Graham:

Ni Hao! (Hello in Chinese)

My name is Joan Graham and I have just returned to the US from China! I am very excited to be your student's Science Teacher this year! This is my first year at FMS but my fourth year teaching. I graduated from Westminster for my undergraduate and Missouri Baptist University for my graduate degree.

I love the Sciences and am so excited to be teaching Earth Science to eighth grade! It is my favorite of all the sciences and I can't wait to share that excitement with the students! I am very excited to be making the switch to Standards Based Grading and look forward to all of the hands on activities that will go along with that.

Feel free to follow me on twitter @sciencemsgraham to see what we are up to in the classroom.

Lisa McDaniel:

Hi! My name is Lisa McDaniel, and I teach 8th-grade Social Studies, Foreign Cultures, and Careers. This is my fifth year at Fulton Middle School, and I am excited to work with you and your student!

Prior to moving to Fulton I taught Special Education and English in Fairfax County, Virginia. I earned my B.A. in Social Studies Education from San Diego State University, and my M.Ed. in Social Studies and English from George Washington University.

Teaching middle school is my passion, and I love coming to work every day. I look forward to learning with your student this year! If you’d like to see what we’re up to each day, please follow me on Twitter @LMcDanielMEd.

Ryan Krankowski:

My name is Ryan Krankowski, and I am thrilled to be your student's Social Studies teacher this year! This will be my sixth year at Fulton Middle School, and my eighth year teaching over all. I attended Miami University as an undergraduate, and William Woods University for my graduate degree.

I've always truly loved the Social Studies, and make it my duty to instill the same love of learning in students at FMS. I personally believe that teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity are the pillars to success in the classroom. You will frequently see your child working in teams, as investigators, and as experts on the issues we study in class!

You can always follow what we are doing in class by watching my Twitter feed @RyanKrankowski.

Please make sure your student is charging his or her Chrome book at night so they are prepared to work in the morning. Thanks!
