Young Authors - Wednesday, May 18th
BOOKS…..BOOKS……BOOKS!
We would like to invite everyone to browse our CRES Young Author books on Wednesday, May 18th from 4:15 – 6:00 p.m. in our gym. We will display the books on tables by grade level/class for parents and friends to view. It is always exciting to see what wonderful writers our CRES students are becoming!
Only these kindergarten and first grade classes will be participating: Dwyer, Niswander, Sewell, Turner, Carrell/Knutson, McKinney, Rent, Snair, and Vadas. However, EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND!
Moving over the summer?
We're wrapping up the year and want to take your BoxTops and other education rewards off your hands before summer break -- one last collection to close out the school year. Please submit your unexpired, clipped BoxTops on the attached collection sheets (or baggies of 50 would be super helpful too) by Friday, May 20th for the chance to win a great prize! Don't forget to write your child's name and teacher on the attached form.
Our sincere thank you to everyone who has volunteered throughout the year to help Cumberland Road Elementary and the CRES PTO! Whether you volunteered your time at one of our many fantastic events, donated food/items for staff appreciation or room parties, served as a room parent in your child’s classroom, led a PTO committee, or contributed in one of many other ways, we truly couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for an amazing year!
A special shout-out to Gwen Keller-Lusk and Tracy Butler
A special shout-out to Gwen Keller-Lusk and Tracy Butler, who served on this year’s PTO executive board and to Shannon Alexander, who served as the Room Parent Coordinator. These ladies have graduating 4th graders this year, and will be moving on to the next chapter in their children’s education next year. They have served the CRES PTO for years with a tremendous amount of dedication, passion, and enthusiasm. Thank you for all you have done for CRES. We will truly miss you.
Volunteer Opportunities for 2016-2017
Do you find yourself asking, “How can I be more involved at CRES next year? Where could my strengths be best utilized?” The CRES PTO has many ways for you to get involved. The following events need committee members for the 2016-17 school year:
· Ice Cream Social (August 2016) – help organize and plan this event that takes place on Open House night at the start of the school year.
· Grillin’ and Chillin’ (Fall 2016) – help organize an amazing, free event that serves the CRES community, and provides a night of fun!
· Roadrunner Rally (Fall 2016) – the first of only two fundraisers the PTO does. Similar to field day experience, this event brings in thousands of dollars to help support our teachers and students at CRES.
If you are interested in serving in any way or have questions about these events, please contact us at cumberlandroadpto@yahoo.com. We are looking forward to a phenomenal year next year!
