Prestwick STEM Academy
Prestwick Profile - Community Vol. 27 Feb. 12th
Prestwick LEarns
The Ivan the Great book club kick-off was great! 18 students in grades 3 and 4 decided to participate. During the first meeting they did a STEM activity that helped them understand the setting of the story. One of them said that book club ranks up there with the supermoon.
Meetings will focus activities that will help the readers connect with this sweet story of friendship and hope. The main character, Ivan, loves art, so I've added several art activities to enhance their appreciation of art through drawing and painting.
Thanks to Mrs. Kim Smith for providing this great opportunity!

DECA State Competition
Forty Little Elm High School students have advanced to DECA state competition which is taking place in DFW this year after a four year absence. DECA, an association of marketing students, is an important part of the business education program in the Little Elm ISD. February 20-22 the Texas state DECA competition brings 4000 high school business students from all over the state to the Sheraton in downtown Dallas. One of the most important parts of the experience for these students is the feedback they get by presenting their business and marketing plans to adult judges with business experience. The actual judging part of the competition is the morning and/or afternoon of February 21.
As Little Elm and Dallas area business leaders we invite you to participate in growing future business leaders by volunteering to judge. If you are interested but want more information feel free to contact Rodger Hutley rhutley@leisd.ws our Marketing teacher who will be happy to provide more info. If you know you are willing to help you can sign up to volunteer here www.texasdeca.org/judge
More information on DECA can be found here www.deca.org
