Seasonal Bugs

Now that school has resumed and children are mixing again, it is important to protect ourselves from spreading illness. A number of seasonal bugs tend to affect our classes at this time of year and we would like to reduce the impact of these as much as possible. If your child becomes ill with a sickness bug, they should stay at home for 48 hours after the last time they vomited in order to reduce transmission to others. If your child becomes unwell with Coronavirus symptoms it is, of course, important that they have a PCR test and remain at home until the outcome is confirmed.

Volunteers

We hope to be able to welcome volunteers into school after half term. However, any previous DBS check will have now expired and will need to be renewed. If you intend to volunteer to help in school on a regular basis in future, please contact the office so that we can begin the process in applying for a new DBS.

Parking

We continue to receive complaints about inappropriate parking around school. Please remember to leave your vehicle safely and sensitively when parking in the vicinity.

#HelloYellow

Friday 8th October we will be supporting Young Minds #HelloYellow Day to raise funds for World Mental Health Day. This will be a non-uniform day and children are invited to wear something yellow! This could be anything from a yellow t-shirt, a pair of yellow socks or a yellow hair clip. The suggested voluntary donation will be £1 via a Just Giving page, a link to this will be sent out shortly. Thank you for your support.

Open Evening

We are holding an open evening for families who are considering coming to our school next September on Thursday 14th October, from 4.30pm - 5.30pm. This will be a chance to see our school, meet staff, and play in our classrooms. We will have free pizza too! Please circulate this to families that might be interested – details are on our Facebook page.

Together TV

Together TV are running a green challenge which involves growing Basil and learning how to cook with it from a TV chef. You can find out more and sign up at: https://www.togethertv.com/green-challenge

Uniform

We would be grateful if you ensured that your child adhered to our uniform policy, including PE kit. This is:

  • Grey trousers or skirts (girls may wear pinafores instead of skirts)
  • Navy sweatshirts
  • White, navy or gold shirts/blouses (Polo shirts are acceptable alternatives to conventional shirts)
  • White or grey socks
  • Black or brown shoes (trainers are not acceptable).
  • Children must wear the correct PE kit – a plain white t-shirt (no logos or pictures other than the school logo) and navy shorts. Suitable footwear is required for outdoor games (the children have bare feet or plimsols for indoor PE). Warm outer wear in the school colours (hoodie, sweatshirt etc) should be worn for outdoor PE.

Your Payment must be made to school with the order as per the instructions on the sheet via

ParentPay.

All order forms (with payment made) must be returned to school by Friday 8th October.

School Lunches

Please see the Autumn Lunch menu below, next week we will be on Week 1 of the menu.

Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.

Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

Each day there are now 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Poetry Day - Special Lunch

Our cook is making a special dinner on Thursday 7th October. Don't forget to complete the google form by the end of Friday 24th September to indicate if your child would or would not like the National Poetry dinner. Children in Yrs 3 to 6 will just pay for the school dinners the normal way via ParentPay. Thank you.
