NEWS FROM THE HEADS

So high spots of the week... so, so many.

First high spot being informed that one of our Year 8 girls had won a poetry competition. As part of the 800th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta, RBWM offered Poetry Joust workshop at schools. After the workshop, the pupil was encouraged to enter her poem into the RBWM Poetry Joust competition. Rowan Norman’s poem was a winner and was chosen as one of 8 to be read at the Magna Carta 800th River Relay. Rowan will be reading the poem at Cookham Meadows on 13 June at 2pm. Read more >>>

SHEENA WILDING

The good weather has been lovely for the children in their hunt for minibeasts in the garden which has helped with their observation skills and number work as they have recorded what they have seen on their survey sheets and counted the results. They have made clay tiles with mini beast imprints, mixed red and yellow paint on the table tops and used their mark making skills to create prints.

Transition children have carried on with the topic about “woodlands and parklands” this week and have looked at the life cycle of an apple tree, printed using real apples and painted pictures of trees. Read more >>>

HELPING YOUR DAUGHTER PLAN HER FUTURE

We are pleased to launch the Claires Court Careers Website.

Please take a look, as this valuable tool is a great way for the School and for you as parents, to support your daughter and help her investigate her future career options.

It is bespoke to our pupils and packed with all the resources needed for them to find, research, understand and make decisions about their future. For pupils in Year 7 onwards it will be used as part of their educational experience at Claires Court in specific sessions, but available for you and them to browse at any time

The Careers website can be accessed from the Parent Area of the School website or, with your daughter, via the hub.

We hope you will find it useful and informative.

This October half term, we are planning a 7 night sailing holiday to Lakitira Beach Resort on the island of Kos October half-term break. The resort itself is a Mark Warner resort, and the trip will be a holiday. We anticipate the cost will be between £800 and £1000, depending upon the level of interest, and will include flights from London Heathrow, sailing tuition and use of other facilities at the resort.

Places will be allocated on a first come/first served basis. A booking form will follow.

*24 - 27 October - Rowing Training Camp at Longridge in Marlow. Please return the booking slip by Friday 3 July.

FROM THE PTA re the Summer Fete

We've been made aware that there may be some confusion about tickets to the summer fete. Tickets cost £5 per family and when you return the form in your programme you will also be entered into a raffle to win a day at Windsor Racecourse. Once you have paid, the School Office will issue with a ticket to gain entry to the event.

Plastic cups should have come home with the girls today. We'd be grateful if you could fill them with sweets and treats and wrap them up and return them to the office. We are also looking for help with cakes, whether they be homemade or shop bought, for the tea tent and also the cake stall. We have cake boxes available if you need them. Allergen stickers are available from the School Office or can be downloaded from the website.

We are also collecting good quality, unwanted toys and books for the fete so it's a good opportunity to have a clear out before the summer.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
