February News for Teachers
Kindness Month
We have kindness books pulled so that you can easily access a quick read aloud this month! Some of these books are from our own Midway library and some of them are checked out from the Daniel Boone Regional Library. I have put together some google sheets so that we can communicate with each other when we need different books. Just select the sheet with the book that you need on it (remember to scroll through the tabs on the bottom of the Google Sheets doc to see all of the books available) and then put your name down for the date that you want to use the book. And then go back into the document to check your name off when it gets returned back to the library. You will find all of these books on the top of the short shelves of the Everybody Section.
Here is the link to the Midway books. Some of the books on this worksheet are noted as belonging to Mrs. Kennedy and can be found in her office.
And here is a link to the DBRL books.
Print from iPads!
All of us now have the capability to print directly from our iPads to the Virtual Printer! This includes students!!!
Simply go to the "share" arrow on your iPad and select print. You will then need to select the Virtual Printer. It will prompt you to put in your username and password for the first time (this is the same as what you use for computer logins). Once you send something to print, you should be able to login to the copier and it will be there! Let me know if any of you have trouble getting the printing to work.
Big Changes for Sora
It was just announced in January that the Columbia Public School District is entering into an agreement with the Daniel Boone Regional Library regarding digital resources. In just a few weeks, we will be able to seamlessly go between the CPS digital library and the DBRL library through the same Sora app (without kids having to use their library card). This means that literally THOUSANDS of ebooks and audiobooks are now going to be at the fingertips of our students. And it won't just be for the older kids...there are tons of picture books and early chapter books available through DBRL. We will do a refresher on how to use this resource with our grades 3-5 once we know that it is live and working well. And we will also do some introductions to our 2nd graders. Let me know if you need some help using this resource!
