FROM THE PRINCIPAL...TONY WHITE

In lieu of my usual type of article for the week, I wanted to share with you some important information (some of it time-sensitive).

Monday is Veterans Day, and Norton Creek will honor Veterans near and far at our second annual assembly. To help dedicate this very special occasion, please, encourage your Eagles to wear red, white, and blue.

This Thanksgiving season, Norton Creek will participate in a coin collection to support the Salvation Army's efforts to provide Thanksgiving Dinner for people in need. It only takes $2.37 for the Salvation Army to feed one person, and $248.85 feeds 105! How many families can Norton Creek help this season? Tuesday, November 12 through Friday, November 22, is our opportunity to answer that question. Please, have your child bring some spare change between November 12 through the 22 to their classroom (if you have some to spare) for this great cause.

We are always on the hunt for lunch/recess supervisors. If you, or someone in our community you know, are interested, please, reach out to Patricia Burton with Organic Life at patricia.burton@d303.org for an application.

As a reminder, when there are buses outside, please, cross the bus lane only at the main crosswalk. While it can be more convenient and quicker to cross in between buses, it also can be unsafe to do so. Thank you for your cooperation!

It's cold, but our Norton Creek community is always so warm. Have a wonderful weekend, and let's remember to always be kind, be respectful, and be problem-solvers!

IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER & OUTSIDE RECESS INFORMATION

We will be going outside for recess as long as the temperature (with wind chill) is above 0 F and it is not raining. With that in mind, please make sure your child is dressed to go outside on days when it is cold, snowy or windy. Students should bring outerwear to school in a bag to put on before recess. Please make sure they have hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants and boots if they want to play in the snow. Don’t forget to label your child’s outerwear so it does not end up in the Lost and Found.

PTO NEWS...

CARING EAGLES - BIG HEARTS OF FOX VALLEY (K-5) angie.miki@yahoo.com, meaghanbishop@hotmail.com, mmpihl@gmail.com

Thank you to all of the families that have signed up to sponsor a child! We are still in need of sponsorship for 7 more children. Are you able to help make Christmas special for an underprivileged child in our school district? This year the Norton Creek Giving Tree is teaming up with the Caring Eagles and we will be working with Big Hearts of Fox Valley on their Christmas Sponsorship program. Many of these kids are in need of basic things like winter coats, boots, gloves, socks, etc. Sponsorship entails purchasing and donating at least 3 items from a child's wish list, totaling $50. Feel free to buddy up with other families, friends or neighbors to fulfill one list. Wish lists will be made available on Monday, 11/11. We also have the opportunity to participate in the gift wrapping party on Tuesday, 12/10, held at Excel Automotive Repair in St. Charles. To sign up to sponsor a child or to volunteer at the gift wrapping party, please log on to the PTO website at www.nortoncreekpto.org and click on My Account, then Volunteer/Make a Purchase. See flyer below for more information.
