Miss. Wright's First Grade Class

Parent Newsletter

Welcome to First Grade!

I hope to have a fantastic year with you all, and I know we will all have a great time! First grade is a time for your child to grow and learn a lot about themselves. I hope that you as parents will provide a supportive home in which they can continue to work on bettering themselves and their education.

ESL Students

We are so excited to have so many different cultural backgrounds in our classroom and my hope is that we can all learn new things from one another and our different perspectives. Should your child need any extra help, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone. I look forward to speaking with you and your children! Many extra resources will be updated and posted to our classroom website, so please check there for extra information. ESL supplements will be there in a folder titled "ESL resources". I hope that you will find these resources useful. If there is any other support I can provide you with, please let me know!

It is extremely important that your children complete their homework each night and bring it back the next day. The homework serves as a supplement to our curriculum and without it, students will not be getting the independent time they need to absorb the information they are learning so rapidly. I would encourage you all to ask your student what their homework is about each day. If English is you or your child's second language, I would encourage discussing the topic of the homework in your native language. Finally, I encourage you to take part in your child's learning and make it a family affair. Learning with your children gives them self-confidence and a good attitude that will help them achieve both socially and academically.
