In the past month we have conducted several experiments as we continue to study our amazing weather. Some video clips of the experiments we conducted can be found below.
How to implode cans with the power of changing air pressure.

How to get an egg in and out of a bottle using air pressure.

How to make a cloud in a bottle.

We also launched an air pressure rocket over 1,000 feet into the air and blasted balls of air across our room using an "Airzooka."
Of course each of these experiments helped us learn and understand various important aspects of the weather such as why the wind blows or why clouds form.
We also visited the newly updated Arcola Planetarium to learn about the phases of the moon.
Students are currently working hard on a cloud catalog project and moon observers logs. The due date for these are November 24th. Next we will continue to study weather forecasting, clouds, storms, hurricanes, and tornados. I have several fun experiments planned for these topics! In chapter four we will explore the various factors that affect seasonal weather changes and climatic differences.
