Please return your child's library book before break. Christmas break is December 22-January 5. Students return to school on January 6th. Have a wonderful holiday!
Sight Words and Phonics
Sight words: do, he, she, be, play, said, are, here, was, on, did, and get
Phonics: We have been reviewing the short vowels. Children have been working on counting, pronouncing, blending and segmenting syllables in spoken words. They also are working to blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
Reading
Our unit has been about exploring families and traditions. Through our literature the children have been working on story retell with key details, identifying character, setting, problem and solution and major events in a story. The children have also been identifying the main idea in a story and the key details. We have been using fiction and non-fiction texts.
Writing
The children have been working on writing a narrative with a beginning, middle, and ending. They should be using a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence, spaces between words, punctuation at the end of each sentence, and spell sight words correctly in their writing.
Math
We have just completed our study of the teen numbers and numbers to 100. Children have been working on counting to 100 by 1's and 10's beginning at any given number(not always 1 or 10). Please practice counting to 100 with your child.
