Ocean City
What is the Problem?
Approximately 69% of Maryland's Coasts are eroding, and that includes Ocean City. The average rate is about .58 feet per year.
Is there a Solution?
There are a few ways to help repair the coasts, but one way to fix it is to do beach replenishment. Beach Replenishment is when a company pumps new sand onto the beach to build it back up. The only problem to this solution is that the new sand pumped in creates a steep beach and the sand is to fine and it washes away too quickly.
Another Way to Solve this Problem
This problem can also be solved by the building of seawalls. Seawalls stop the water from moving in and taking away the sand.
