The Lancer Ledger Newsletter has a New Format
Hello Families,
Thanks for reading this edition of the Lancer Ledger! You'll notice a new format for the Lancer Ledger this year. I'm hopeful that this new format will be more user friendly so that we can communicate with you more effectively. Our goal is to keep families connected with the happenings at the elementary school. This quarterly newsletter is one way to stay connected. We also have an Elementary Facebook Page where we post regular updates and you can to visit our Elementary Website for additional information as well. We want you to be informed!
It has been a busy fall at the elementary school. We’ve already had a handful of field trips, special guest visits and a Great Green Run and Roll with an action-packed homecoming week. Our students are very busy learning new things each day. We're working on becoming stronger readers, mathematicians and citizens. Thank you for partnering with us as we work together to meet the needs of students!
There is always something new happening at the elementary school. I will be posting several news items, updates and calendar dates in this newsletter. Please contact us if you have any questions about your student's progress. We are here to help.
Thanks for reading!

It Was a Great Green Run and Roll
We had a great event on Friday, October 2. The students completed the run and roll under sunny skies and with smiling faces. Kindergarten and 1st grade students completed a 1/2 mile course and grades 2-4 finished one mile. Coach Abe from the high school cross country team got each group fired up with the "crazy buffalo" cheer. It was fun to see everyone's commitment to finishing!

Traffic and Parking Reminders
Here are a few traffic and parking reminders:
- Two-hour parking is available in front of the school on Oak Street.
- The student drop off zone is located in the south parking lot. This is designated as a drop-off only zone (no parking).
- The bus lane is on the north side of the building on South 4th Street. This is a bus lane only (student drop-off is on the south side of the building).
- Be mindful of handicap accessible parking zones. Please, no temporary parking in these designated zones.
Thank you for staying vigilant for foot and bike traffic in our school zone. Safety First.
School Attendance
Tardy Policy: We have updated our tardy policy to align with Houston County and school district protocols. Timely attendance is very important for students as they are engaged in important learning activities beginning at 8:00am each day. The new policy states that three tardies will be equivalent to one absence. This policy reflects the importance of timely arrival to school. This change will improve our communication with Houston County for attendance reporting.

Community Backpack on the Website
We are starting a Community Backpack page on the elementary website for activities and programs offered in the community. These programs are not ISD 300 sponsored events, but may be of interest for students and families. Check back often for updates from various community groups in La Crescent and the surrounding area. You can find the link above or on the elementary website under Programs > Community Backpack.
