PLCs: Continue to focus on completion of EOY tasks and data uploads. Also, please take a look at any teaching resources your grade level would like to have for interventions/enrichment or academic support to include technology software. Please let administration know or include it on your wish list sheet to be submitted at check out. This way we are ready to go for next school year.
Please look at how you can maximize how differentiation is being delivered to students during small group/flex time. Please share any suggestions or thoughts you may have for next year. Thank you
SLO data and reflection sheets should be ready to go for upcoming SLO conferences. Please do not upload your sheet until after you have held your SLO conference with administration. Thank you

- Summer MTSS/PBIS Training: MTSS/PBIS Summer Training for ALL schools, June 21-22, 2018, 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. All schools should send a team of 4 staff to include an administrator. Team registration document will be sent separately. Staff participants can earn 1 MSDE credit or $30/hr.
- Instructional Mentor Application: The 2018-2019 Instructional Mentor Application is now open. All teachers interested in mentoring a pre-service or in-service teacher are welcome to apply. The application will remain open until 5:00 pm on Friday, June 1. Once the application closes, applicants will be compiled by site and principals will be made aware of their school's applicants for approval/mentor team creation. Principals are highly encouraged to ask teachers to apply.

- Title I Summer School-Title I Summer School will be located at George Washington Carver from July 9-August 16 from 8:00-3:00 Monday to Thursday, excluding Fridays. Staff begins at 7:45. Interested certified staff should apply through the new common application. Interested para-educators will be employed through Abacus and should apply with them. There will be two days for preparatory planning and assessment at the conclusion of the program and those dates will be selected after staff have been selected.

- UNIFY Tips for Scanning End-of-Year (EOY) Scansheets:
- To minimize mistakes by the scanner, please remember to change the scan file type to TIFF and scan as Gray Scale or Color. This will help ensure that bubbles and erasures are read correctly.
- Please remind students to bubble dark, complete bubbles, to stay within the bubbles, to erase mistakes completely, and not to mark near the barcode.
- Please remember to include both the Student Name and ID Number if not using a pre-printed scan sheet. If sheets are double-sided, be sure student information is on both sides.
- Moodle Course Rollover to SY2019: In order to ensure you have access to your Moodle Course next year, please fill out the form found here. If you have any questions or concerns about the roll-over process, please contact Jeff Gibson at jsgibson@smcps.org.
- MSDE Summer Professional Learning Symposia: This free PD activity will focus on essential practices to support principals & teachers with research, skills, and strategies to increase student achievement. These regional opportunities will include an elementary two-day conference and one-day workshops for secondary educators in the areas of American Government, US History, and Health Education. JULY 18-19 - TUSCARORA HIGH SCHOOL FREDERICK COUNTY
AUGUST 7-8 - CALVERT HIGH SCHOOL CALVERT COUNTY
AUGUST 14-15 - NORTH CAROLINE HIGH SCHOOL CAROLINE COUNTY School teams are encouraged to register for elementary conference; however, individual participants are welcome. Participants who attend the Symposia will be eligible for one (1) CPD credit. - The Retiree/Length of Service Ceremony is scheduled for June 6 at 5 p.m. at the Forrest Center celebrating staff who are retiring and those who have completed 25, 30, 35, or 40 years of service. Staff attending should RSVP HERE.
- GoalBook/Pathways - Inquiring minds have wanted to know why they are seeing a message in their account saying that they only have a certain number of days left to use Pathways. Do not worry - we renew our contract yearly and will continue to provide GoalBook Pathways next year!
- August 28 PD: Save the Date! The Department of Student Services is facilitating a presentation on MTSS/PBIS by Mr. Michael Muempfer from MSDE on August 28, 2018. Presentations will be held at each of the three high schools. All schools will report to their feeder high schools for the presentation. Schools whose students follow more than one feeder pattern will be assigned one high school. Mr. Muempfer will present at GMHS from 8:30 - 10:30, at LHS from 11:00 - 1:00, and at CHS from 2:00 - 4:00. Due to time restrictions, a few schools will need to flex their workdays to accommodate the presentation schedule. Further details to come.

- Volunteers Needed: The Southern Maryland Mission of Mercy is a free 2-day adult dental clinic for patients who are in need of dental care. The event will be held on July 27th and 28th, 2018 at North Point High School in Waldorf, Maryland from 6:00am to 4:00pm on both days. It is a first come, first served dental clinic and approximately 450 patients will receive services each day. North Point High School is located at 2500 Davis Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20603.
This adult free dental clinic is provided by volunteer dental professionals and volunteer staff. Patients must be 19 years of age or older. Services provided are preventive dentistry and cleanings, nutritional counseling, restorative fillings, and extractions. All services are provided by licensed dentists and hygienists. There is no cost to the patient, regardless of insurance status.
We have many opportunities for volunteers to assist in this successful event. General Volunteers monitor the patient line, check patients and volunteers in and out, provide hospitality and provide IT support. For further information or to volunteer, please visit the website at www.southernmdmon.org.
