PRINCIPAL’S WEEK 3 MESSAGE REGARDING SCHOOL CLOSURE
REMOTE LEARNING
CUSD students began remote learning last week. Students with access to technology should be accessing information from their teachers via Infinite Campus or their gse Google account.
Students approved to receive loaner Chromebooks and/or WiFi hotspots were notified by their 3rd hour teacher. Students who attend EVIT are able to request technology through EVIT.
Paper copies of assignments are now available for pick up at the CHS front office on Monday-Thursday of this week between 7:00am-9:00am and 1:00pm-4:00pm. These assignments are only to be picked up by students who do not have access to technology. Students/Parents will receive additional information regarding returning the completed work and picking up the next packet during this week’s pick-up.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
CHS hosted Prevention Week before Spring Break for students mostly enrolled in Health Classes, to learn more about mental illness, suicide awareness, and opioid abuse. Additionally, Cari Fonseca from The Next Step Foundation spoke about caring for and losing her son to drinking and driving, the Chandler Victim’s Unit discussed healthy relationships, and SRO Officer Keipert & Prevention Coach Mrs. Hunter informed the students about the laws and harmfulness regarding vaping.
If any students need services for substance abuse and other behavioral health challenges arise at home, notMykid has set up a text line for families, and they have a prevention team on call. Parents and teens can text the word QUESTION to 602-584-8474.
Mindfulness means that you are present- aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment. With mindfulness, the decision-making process helps you slow down rather than make impulsive decisions. We all make bad decisions from time to time, but practicing mindfulness can help us all develop ways of making good decisions.
Remember you can download Calm.com, a free app that has breathing exercises, lessons on anxiety, body scans, music, etc.
