A message from our principal, Mrs. Fadeji
Dear Penngrove Families,
We are having an AMAZING first day back!!!! We did have CHP come visit and notify us that some cars were parked too close to the SMART Train tracks. As a reminder, there should be 15 feet of space between a car and train tracks. Thank you all for your patience this week as we experience an extra heavy flow of traffic.
Thank you PTA for hosting our annual parent coffee and breakfast this morning. Everything was delicious!
You'll hear more from me at Back to School Night which is coming up next Thursday, July 26th (see times below). In the meantime, enjoy these first days with your children. We're so happy to have them back!
Warmly,
Amy

What’s on your mind?
Please email your questions, comments, ideas, haiku: pennparentvoice@gmail.com
Get Involved - A little bit goes a long way!
Worried you might get sucked into a vortex from which there is no escape? That you’ll help out at one event and before you know it, your days, evenings, and weekends are all gone? Too many of us have seen this first hand. Fear not! We want volunteers who do what they can, when they can, and nothing more. These healthy boundaries leave room for more joy in our events and projects, and the kids will feel the love! Please sign up for 1 or 2 (or more!) projects or events HERE on the Google Sign up Sheet
This will get you informed about specific tasks so that you can decide how you want to help. If you would like to chair an event or don’t know where to begin, we’d love to hear from you!

School Attendance Matters! EVERY DAY COUNTS!
Welcome back!
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school – and themselves. Every absence, excused or not, can impact a child’s academic success. We encourage you to:
· Insure your student arrives to school on time
· Try to schedule doctor/dental appointments before or after school hours
· Plan family vacations during breaks
When you do need to keep your child home PLEASE contact the office. There are several ways you can let us know:

Let’s work together to make this the most successful year ever for your child!
Meet our RSP Specialist, Violette Moon Tindall!
Hello Penngrove students and families. I am Violette Moon Tindall, and you are free to call me Ms. Moon. I am a SoCal native, happily transplanted to Petaluma with my husband and sons.
Educationally, I come from a family of educators, journalists and artists. On my own, I studied the Sciences and Humanities. I took graduate courses in Visual Arts, and then I obtained my credential in Special Education.
Outside of my time in school (too much time!), I met my wonderful husband, who works in wine distribution, and we had our sons, both of whom are at Cherry Valley Charter School.
Before I had a family, I taught in the nonpublic school environment, which was very challenging! But, my training is truly in the area of learning disabilities and providing the least restrictive educational environment for general ed students who may benefit from additional support.
One of my sons has an IEP and receives services at Cherry Valley from some of the very same professionals your children work with!
I bring both my perspectives as a parent and as a teacher in the Special Education environment to my work. With those perspectives, I hope to serve you and your families very well.
From Mr. Z, our Intramural Sports Coordinator

Message from our Mentor Me Program
Penngrove Homework Philosophy
With this being said, we also want to grant each family the permission to be human. We know that life happens and things come up (family celebrations, sporting events, hectic schedules) and we want to work with your family during these times. Please be in communication with your child’s teacher during such times. Our goal with homework (whether optional or assigned) is always to prepare students for meaningful learning experiences and a strong set of study skills. Thank you for you partnership!
