What is Heart Healthy Week?

Austin ISD will participate in Healthy Heart Week February 1st - 5th, a Coordinated School Health (CSH) initiative. This year will be focusing on the physical heart and emotional heart. We encourage students and staff members to wear red Friday, February 5th. Show your support by sharing any pictures via Twitter using the hashtags: #AISDGoesRed2021, #BeWellDoGood, and #AISDHasHeart.

National Salute to Veterans

The Voluntary Service Staff at the Austin VA Outpatient Clinic have invite our students to participate in the National Salute to Veterans during the week of February 7-14, 2021. This is an annual Nationwide effort to thank our Veterans for their service to our country.

We are looking for as many Valentine's Day cards that your school can provide for our Veterans.


Please take the notes to Mr. Martinez by Thursday, February 13, 2021 and Mr. San Segundo will deliver them to the VA Outpatient Clinic.

February is Children’s Dental Health Month!

It’s Here! We will be celebrating digitally this year to ensure the upmost safety during these times! We are excited to share our link with you with our contest details. We look forward to seeing your student’s entries!


February is National Dental Children’s Health Month reminding us of the importance of good oral health!

Join for a fun video contest to show us how you keep your smile healthy!

Throughout the month, teachers, dentists, parents, caregivers and others can help keep children’s smiles beautiful now and for years to come by sharing helpful tips on how to avoid cavities and establish good dental habits.

To make sure you’re taking good care of your oral health, be sure to remember these important tips:

  • Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Limit sugary snacks and beverages and drink lots of water
  • Visit a dentist regularly check ups and treatment of oral problems

To celebrate the awareness month, we’ll be hosting a video contest!

  • Healthy Smiles Video: Show us how you keep your smile healthy! Submit a fun, creative video demonstrating one or more of the healthy tips listed above.
