On Thursday, April 19th, the High School Band students will do an Honors Band Day with Richard Saucedo, who is a renowned composer as well as band director of 31 years. He is coming to us courtesy of the Conn-Selmer Institute in Elkhart, IN. He is most known for his career at Carmel High School in Indiana, where his bands received numerous awards, from Indiana State Champion Concert Band in 2013, placing in the top 10 for the Bands of America Grand National Champions over the course of 17 years, and earning first place in 2005 and 2012. Saucedo retired in 2013 from his 31-year career teaching and was inducted in 2015 into the Music for All Hall of Fame.
You have heard his music performed at our fall marching show as he wrote our Journey of Man music as well as a few pieces at both our Christmas concert and District Festival pieces.
