A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
May 11, 2020
Dear Galena Park I.S.D. Staff,
This week's message is at once triumphant and melancholy: the end of the 2019-2020 school year is in sight. Please stay tuned to your email, the Galena Park I.S.D. website and social media platforms for end-of-school-year information for staff.
A few virtual celebratory events remain scheduled: on May 21 at 6:00 p.m., we will publish a link to our video presentation of the GPISD Virtual Awards Ceremony, which will include our announcement of the 2021 GPISD Rookie Teachers and Teachers of the Year. The other grand events we are planning to celebrate virtually are Graduation Ceremonies for the Class of 2020 this evening for ACE, and on May 31 for CTE ECHS, GPHS, and NSSH. I hope you will join us to view these celebrations and will toast all the honorees from wherever you view the festivities.
I hope you all remain healthy and productive as Texas transitions to a re-opening of our great state in incremental phases. I also hope you all remain cautious, to avoid exposure to the COVID-19 virus after all we have done to remain as healthy as possible throughout these challenging times.
As always, I appreciate your support and patience throughout the entire school year, and especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward with great excitement and anticipation to the day we can all gather safely again.
Blessings to you,
Angi Williams, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Self-Care Tips
- Eliminate stressors. Examine what you have to do and see if there are stressors you can eliminate.
- Adjust your expectations. We are all going to have to do that over and over again as the crisis continues to unfold.
- Whatever you’re doing for others is enough. Although none of us alone can do enough to make the difference, together we are all doing enough to make a difference.
