A Camping We Did Go!
FAMILY Reading & Math Night on Thursday, February 8 promised more than camping. There were over 250 people that enjoyed the evening by taking part in a camping meal; jump roping with Cara Walters, Spooner Health; listening to a story by author Elizabeth Jarrell; flashlight reading in a tent with Spooner Memorial Library; Pesto Tasting and Eat the Rainbow with AmeriCorps Farm to School; and....

There's 'Snow' Fun Like Snow Fun
Late winter snow is so-o-o-o fun. Layla Stewart and friends enjoyed their own game of head plowing during High Five recess.
Gabby Schroeder - Student Leader
On Wednesdays for part of January and February, Kindergarten Basketball players used Legos to build structures based on the book Gabby read.
Rex Duncan - Volunteer
Mr. Duncan joins High Five on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, making an extra set of eyes outside on the playground and at individual reading time during clubs. Here he reads with second grader, Kurt Riedell.
Share Your Story
Lindsay Macone, SES High Five teacher, allows first grade students in WIN to tell others something they did over the weekend.
Dreaming of Spring
In Kate Curran's enrichment class, Shamaya Fahie works on her idea of spring on the white board.
Collaboration at its Finest!
Kurt Riedell, Alton Bethel and Zaid Renner showed their representation of spring, drawing a ship on the water - a Pirate ship, no doubt - and a fishing pole.
Rails Way is the High Five Way
The Rails Way behavior program during SES day school is also adhered to in our High Five Afterschool program. Leaders and staff reinforce day time expectations, keeping the transition as smooth as possible. Tickets are given when students show positive behavior from check-in and recess through Snack Time, during WIN/Academic Clubs, and at Activity Time just prior to check-out. Even our van drivers reinforce positive behavior choices by handing out tickets to students who show The Rails Way!
Each grade level will be working toward a Dress-up Day for an incentive in March. High Five and day school will keep giving away tickets for those being respectful, responsible, and safe.
