There are no concrete requirements for becoming a basketball player. but there are several things that can help you be a better basketball player.

  • Height - You don't necessarily have to be tall to be in basketball or to be a good player but it is in advantage to be tall. when your tall you have better of an advantage to block shots, to jump higher and even when you shot.
  • Endurance - In order to become a successful basketball player, you need to have excellent endurance.Basketball is a sport that at times can resemble a track meet in its near non-stop sprinting. In basketball you have to be running, jumping or have to have physical contact and other required body motions which means that you have to be in good shape to be able to last in a game.
  • Athleticism and Agility - being able to have both of these can help you a lot in basketball when you have to go for rebound, or when blocking shots and even when shooting. It also helps you to be agile; basketball requires the ability to change direction frequently and suddenly.
  • Strength and Toughness - If you don't have the strength and toughness to keep your opponent from overpowering you on both offense and defense, you might struggle to succeed. Mental toughness is important as well, you have to have the ability to be confidence even after missing several shots.

What is basketball?

Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. Basketball was originally played with a soccer ball. The first balls made specifically for basketball were brown and it was only in the late 1950's. Tony Hinkle was searching for a ball that would be more visible to the players and spectators alike, introduced the orange ball that is now in common use. Passing the ball was the primary means of ball movement.
