Art plays a critical role in the curriculum at The Montessori School of Fort Smith. Under the direction of Rania Al Assadi, students study and test a variety of media - watercolors, charcoal pencils, acrylics, yarn, and many others. This gives them the opportunity to learn about a number of methods, but also to find that medium with which they enjoy working.

In a Montessori classroom, more emphasis is placed on the process than on the product, which gives the children time to get to know their subject. Using their preferred medium, they are encouraged to explore and experiment as they find inspiration for their piece.

This show contains original art pieces created by children from age 3 through 5th grade and represents a variety of subjects, each which struck the interest of our students.
