Message from Mrs. Harvey
Welcome Back! Things are humming right along here at Harborview and TCLL. Our Pre-Kindergarten students started today and Kindergarten started last Friday! It is so fun to see everyone again! Thank you for showing us all grace as we navigate some unusual bus schedules and changes, getting our routines in place, and working through all that comes with starting a new school year. My goal this year is to put out a newsletter every week to keep our families updated on what is happenng here at school. If you ever have any questions please feel free to call 523-1850 or email us at email@example.com.
Attendance Is Important
Please make sure you are getting your child to school on time. Harborview students begin their day at 8:00 and TCLL students begin their day at 8:30. Our front doors open at 7:40 and students can get a free breakfast or go outside to play on the back playground until 7:55.
When should you keep your child home?
Being sure that a child is well enough to go to school can be tough for any parent. It often comes down to whether the child can still participate at school. Having a sore throat, cough, or mild congestion doesn't always mean kids can't handle class and other activities.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, though, health experts ask that families keep sick kids home. Even mild symptoms like sore throat, cough, or a headache can be signs of a COVID-19 infection that can spread to teachers or other kids. During the pandemic and after it's over, kids should stay home when they have symptoms like a fever over 100.4°F, diarrhea, vomiting, or trouble breathing.
When in doubt, check with Nurse Maureen (our school nurse) at 523-1768.
School Drop Off and Pick Up
Our doors do not open until 7:40 each morning and we do not have supervision for kids until that time. Please do not drop kids off before 7:40 unless you have signed them up for rally. It is just a big safety issue. :)
When kids arrive we give them the option of going downstairs for a free breakfast or out to the back playground. Kids enter and go to classes at 7:55.
Pick up for Harborview is at 2:30 and for TCLL is at 3:00. If there is any change to your child’s after school plans please call 523-1850 and let us know as soon as possible. If you need to come into the building either at drop off or pick up please find a place to park and come on in. We don’t have room for cars to park in front of the school and it is a safety issue when kids are being dropped off or picked up.
During the school day our doors will all be locked. If you come to school you will need to call the office at 523-1850 and let us know you are here and then we can buzz you in. Thanks so much for helping keep our kids safe.
We will have our first Evacuation Drill (aka Fire Drill) this week. The first one is a little slower so we can practice the routes for exiting the building.
