Poplar Grove Post
November 2019
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Parents,
Thank you for donating your money, time, food, snacks, and drinks to make our 4th Annual Fall Fest a success. The students, teachers, and volunteers had an amazing time! Our volunteers and teachers worked hard to ensure the event occurred even though the weather didn’t wish to cooperate with outside activities. With your help, we were able to exceed our fundraising goal of $12,500. Again, thank you for your continued support!
The PGMS Band and Be Nice Student Ambassadors will participate in the annual Franklin Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2019. This is always a great event that honors those who have served in our nation’s military. Our next early release day is Friday, November 22, 2019. Lastly, the district will be closed the week of November 25-29 for Thanksgiving.

PBS NEWS:
Happy Fall Y’all! We have had a wonderful first 9 weeks with a lot to celebrate in Positive Behavior Support world. Overall, our office referrals are lower than they have been in the last three years for the first nine weeks. That is something to celebrate! We appreciate your support at home, and encouraging your child to demonstrate good behavior at school. One way we let you know that your student is doing a great job is through positive “Jups” as well, so if you are not signed up for Jupiter, please ask your child’s homebase teacher how to sign up as soon as possible.
We also held our first PBS Glow Dance for our first nine weeks quarterly incentive. Students were able to spend PBS tickets to attend the dance and get a couple of glow in the dark bracelets to add to the fun. We had a fabulous student turn out, and we hope they had a lot of fun!
We have many opportunities for your child to spend their PBS tickets around the school such as the PBS Cart (weekly), grade level hallway drawings (weekly), classroom teacher drawings, schoolwide PBS events (quarterly), and the end of the year PBS celebration. A good conversation starter with your middle schooler could be “How many PBS tickets do you have?” or “What do you get your PBS tickets for?” or “How do you like to spend your PBS tickets?”
Stay tuned for ways that you can support our school wide PBS program that benefits all students at PGMS…
TECHFIT:
The “swag” is in! Our eighth graders are earning great incentives as lessons are completed with excellence! Keep powering through different ways to code, wire, build, engineer, and more! Next month, we’ll be sharing the DIY sensors created in class!
