Movement Analysis Projects
Students in Anna Muncy’s Anatomy & Physiology class recently gave presentations for a movement analysis project.
They have worked for weeks to complete a formal movement analysis. The analysis includes specifying each movement, muscle, bone, and joint involved for a movement the student(s) choose.
The students have put together a formal report outlining the phases as well as potential injuries and stretching/training for the movement. Some example movements from student projects are: a back handspring, kneading bread, the wave, and — very topical to the current pandemic —putting on a mask.
The students are also completing a formal presentation in which they present their report information.
Blood Drive
ConVal High School’s Student Council, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, hosted the school’s annual blood drive on Friday, December 3, 2021.
The event required preregistration and was not open to the general public but was organized for students and staff only.
65 people signed up to donate, filling every donation appointment and creating a waitlist of possible donors. The blood drive goal of 35 units was surpassed by collecting 37 units, saving up to 103 lives.
The Student Council will be hosting a second drive for students and staff in March 2022.
Student Art At PTL
The Visual and Performing Arts Department is excited to return to in-person exhibition of student work.
Junior and senior visual arts students were invited to showcase their work in the gallery space at the newly renovated Peterborough Town Library (PTL).
The show is entitled “Here and There” and opened on December 3, 2021. The exhibited work will be on display throughout the month of December.
Grossi Speaks At VISION Event
Careers in Education teacher Sarah Grossi recently conducted two workshops at the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) CareerTech VISION professional development and networking event in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The first workshop provided resources and tangible, easy-to-use strategies that CTE educators and administrators can use to create high-quality student assessments that align with ACTE”s Quality CTE Program of Study Framework and increase access to learning for all students.
The second illustrated how to apply a framework for professional training to design, create and implement their work-based learning (WBL) and clinical internship experiences.
Grossi also serves as the ACTE New and Related Services Awards Chair and presented awards during the NRS Opening Session and Awards Ceremony.
