HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 6 - 15 March 2019
I write as the excitement of Dads and Kids Campout builds! The oval, covered in tents, with children playing and Dads enjoying one another’s company on a Saturday afternoon is something to behold. Nathan Byrne is again leading the charge, ably supported by a number of Dads. This is a big event in the life of the school, and has memories that the children and dads keep for a long time! Our thanks to Nathan and his fellow volunteers who make this significant event a reality.
Friday’s assembly involves both Year Six classes. No. surprise as to what the focus will be! They have had a wonderful camp. Come along if you can.
Have a great weekend.

YEAR 6 LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
Serving on Holy Rosary’s four Council Groups during the course of the year is an important Year 6 leadership and service experience. Students work in groups and have the opportunity to serve on each Council.
The Environment Council works in the Veritas Garden, planting and tending to the fruit, vegetables and herbs. We thank the parent helpers for their support!
The program is overseen by our Pastoral Worker, Holly Butson, with support from Year 6 teachers Kate O’Neill and Lachie Darby.

HOLY ROSARY BUSINESS DIRECTORY
As a Parent Community we would love to see a culture of thinking Holy Rosary first! Please have a look through the directory to see what these businesses might be able to do for you. If you would like to be listed please contact Mark Nolan at email@example.com

It is our aim at Holy Rosary to provide a safe learning environment for all people in our school community. To ensure the wellbeing of students and staff suffering allergies and Anaphylaxis to nuts we have a policy in place that aims not only to increase our community awareness regarding nuts at school but to minimize health risks including anaphylaxis to children with documented allergies to nut products.
As an ‘Allergy Aware School’ we encourage parents, children and staff to avoid bringing foods that contain nuts to school. Products that contain nuts include:
- Peanut butter
- Nut spreads such as Nutella
- Most fruit and nut bars and muesli bars
- Some biscuits, cakes and muffins
- Chocolates and any other products that have nuts listed in the ingredients
The school acknowledges that there is a joint responsibility with Anaphylaxis and Allergy and it is impractical to ask parents not to send food which states ‘may contain traces of nuts’ on the label. Please note our allergy aware policy applies to those ingredients specifically listed on the product label.
Year 4 investigating the force required to move objects on different surfaces. They used Newton Meters to measure the amount of friction present.
Today is the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. In the library this week, we have been talking about what bullying is and watching short age appropriate videos about how to be a good friend and take safe action against bullies. If you would like any information, this is an excellent website full of resources https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/WhatIsBullying.
Have a great weekend.

Rosary Care School Coordinator - Lisa Vilé
For those of you that do not know me, I have a son (Christian) who’s now in Year 3, but have been part of the Holy Rosary school community since 2008. During this time I have become involved with Rosary Care, which is a parish-based, short term crisis, care and support group.
Rosary Care is made up of volunteers who help out with providing meals, company, transport or home help for families or individuals who need a little extra support.
If you know of anyone who may need some extra support, or who may be interested in joining our volunteer group, please contact me via the school office or on my mobile 0431 955 863. Otherwise, feel free to come and have a chat with me after school in the undercover area, or after school banking on Thursday mornings.
