Adaptive Pause Update From Dr. Hubbard

While Tier 3 mitigation measures do not specifically state what decisions school districts are to make regarding learning models, the virtual learning recommendation issued by the Lake County Health Department on October 20, 2020 is still in effect.

We implemented an adaptive pause (a strategy that allows for movement into any level of remote learning to prevent disease transmission during a pandemic) on October 26th.

The second extension of our pause was announced to be through November 29. Since then, we have continued to monitor the metrics that we have committed to use in our decision-making.

We are now announcing that our adaptive pause will be extended until at least January 4, 2021.

As we get closer to January 4, 2021, we will continue to monitor data, explore best-practice, seek the advice of experts, and make the best and right decisions for us.

Our team is finalizing our Logistics and Operations Plan, inclusive of our hybrid learning model and schedule. We aim to be prepared for a return to in-person learning as soon as the data and Lake County Health Department indicate that it is safe and feasible to do so.

Have Questions???

On Wednesday, December 9th at 6:00pm-7:00pm, Mrs. Gerritsen and Mr. Reardon will be holding a virtual meeting for all parents to attend. We will start with a brief update on any current topics, and the remainder of the time will be open to parent questions. Keep your eyes open for a form that will be emailed to everyone. You will be able to submit your questions ahead of time!

PBIS Rewards

We have now pushed the PBIS Rewards app to student iPads and it can be found in ClassLink. Now students will be able to see the points they have earned by being respectful, responsible, and safe, as well as purchase from teacher and school stores. To better understand PBIS Rewards, you can watch THIS VIDEO. Feel free to watch it and explore the app! This is a new tool and we are learning how to adapt it to best fit our current situation. We cannot wait to see the positive impact PBIS Rewards will bring to our school culture!

Title 1 Schoolwide Compact

In order for W.C. Petty to receive our Title 1 funds from the state, we need to have all teachers, students and families acknowledge they will abide by the compact's statements.

Typically we send a hard copy of this form home for parents and students to sign. Since we are virtual, this survey will replace the regular form.

Please fill out THIS SURVEY for each child in your household who attends Petty.

We have 286 forms out of the 414 that we need! If you're not sure if you filled it out yet, you can fill it out again.

iPad Update

If you haven’t already done so, please update your district iPad to iOS14.2

Snow Buddies

Do you know a child who would benefit by receiving a holiday gift or are you interested in donating a gift? Please fill out this form if either scenario applies to you. Click here for the form.

Big picture

Health Care Information

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Though we have converted back to a full remote learning model, please realize that your school nurses are still here as a resource to help you through this COVID pandemic. We make every effort to remain up to date with the guidelines outlined by the Lake County Health Department and therefore want to continue being a source of information and guidance to you.

Due to the recent volume of positive cases, the Health Department may not have been able to make phone contact with all of the affected individuals in the county. We are here to help support you through the process and answer your questions about isolation, quarantine, close contacts, and more. The ultimate goal is to keep your family and our community safe and healthy.

We ask that you please continue to keep us informed of positive cases within your household so we can provide guidance and help prevent further spread. You can contact us anytime via email or call our offices. If we are not in the office the day you call, please leave a voicemail as we will be checking our messages daily during regularly scheduled business days. Email is currently the best way to reach us. Please note, absences should still be reported to the attendance hotline.

Our hope is that by working together, we can keep our families and community healthy and get our students back to school as soon as possible. Be well and stay safe.

We are here for you,
