Week of 11/11-11/15
QPI Updates
- All QIPS were due 10/31! If you did not enter one, you will not be eligible to receive a stipend this year. You are however, still eligible to attend any professional development training's provided by QPI.
- Every classroom will receive an outside unannounced observation between now and June 11, 2020.
- Crown Classrooms will receive 2 reviews (1 ECERS and 1 CLASS) and Strand 3 reviews (AM ECERS and PM ECERS and CLASS).
- The observation will measure our interactions with the students including are we building positive relationships with them, do we are ask purposeful questions throughout the day, to are we disinfecting tables and sinks appropriately, are the students and teachers washing their hands when applicable, and do we provide family style meal times (are the children passing around the bowls and counting how many items they need put on their plates).
If you would like to read more about the ECERS and CLASS observations, see below or inquire with your lead teacher. There are training's offered all year long through QPI on the ECERS and CLASS observational tools.
The purpose of the observations is to provide information to Coronado Unified and the State of California on if our program provides quality preschool practices, as required by the Department of Education and County Office of Ed.
I have observed some amazing things happening this year in our preschool classes. Keep up the good work and thank you for all you do!! I am very proud to lead this team of early educators!
Have a great week!!
Care and Supervision
Last week Crown had an outside observer share she noticed a lot of teacher talk. Teacher talk takes away from care and supervision so please limit your side conversations and make sure you are keeping your eyes on the students at all times. It only take a second for an injury to occur.
Any injuries that seek medical attention will require notification to licensing and an investigation to inquire what occurred. Please help us prevent accidents and challenges before they occur by supervising and being proactive when you see something dangerous about to happen. THANK YOU!
Do you need a super friend?
Below is a link to the Super Friend book! You can introduce this to your class and have a Super Friend too!
DRDP Tips from Ms. Bri
DRDP TIPS
- Evidence can be related to more than one measure
- Observations should be done in a natural setting and/or during daily activities
- Be prepared. Have the right materials that work best for you.
- Focus on observing and recording exactly what the child does. Not what you think the child is doing nor what you think he or she can do.
- Open-ended questions! Inquire that require more than “yes” and “no” responses.
- Be familiar with the DRDP measures, when you see evidence related to it be sure to document the evidence
- Meaningful observation notes ...
- are descriptive
- are authentic “snap shots” of a child’s skill or behavior
- provide details
- collected over time in different settings
- include open-ended questions
By asking open-ended questions you are learning more about what the child is experiencing, what the child knows and what the child is curious about. Below is a link to a list of open-ended questions. Thank you Ms. Bri for these helpful tips!
