COLOR GUARD CLINIC AND PERFORMANCE

There will be a clinic on Sept 10th for registered 5th-8th graders that are interested in getting a taste of what its like to be involved in the Color Guard! Last year we were thrilled to work with over 24 interested participants.

There will also be a performance for these young persons to show off their stuff during Pregame of the Sep 23rd NPHS Football Game.

This years clinic will be run by veteran students of the program; Alayna Ausbrooks, Aynslee Dellacca, Audrey McAtee and Elena Wood. Their responsibilities include choreographing, teaching, and creating a memorable experience for the participants.

Be sure to come early to the football game to support these kiddos on Sept 23rd!

September Highlights - from Mr. C

We are launching a small item order today for any families interested. Click the link below to be taken to a Google Form to fill out orders for Dragon B keychains, Dragon B pins, and for our marching families, 2022 Challenge Coins to commemorate the show. The order form will close at the end of the day Friday, September 9 and money is due at that time in the band box at NPHS. The challenge coins were a big hit last year and the keychains and pins are made by the same company.
We are also launching a decal and yard sign webpage for any families interested. You can view what is available, order, and pay for your items all on the website, there is nothing to turn in to the band box or send back with your child! The deadline for orders is the end of the day Sunday, September 11. We anticipate a 1-2 week turnaround on these orders and will distribute them once received.
Finally, the last item for all our kids: IBA All-District registration is open. All-District is an honor band for students in grades 9-12 instrumental ensembles sponsored by the Indiana Bandmasters Association. Students selected would go to Shelbyville HS on Saturday, November 19 for rehearsals and back to Shelbyville HS on Sunday, November 20 for rehearsals and a concert. Students are selected from schools in about a 40 minute radius around Shelbyville and they take somewhere between 90-100 total students. Last year we had 4 students selected to attend. Wind Ensemble students have a concert at UINDY on Sunday, November 20, so I would discourage those students from signing up to avoid a high level of stress that day and the potential issue of being double booked. Students in Symphonic Band and Concert Band should absolutely apply if you're interested! These events are really fun and a great way to make some friends from other schools with shared interests. If you click the link above, you'll be asked to enter a school code. Ours is r5n6h3 and you must enter that in order to fill out an application associated with NPHS. The deadline to fill this out is Friday, September 9.

MARCHING BAND NOTES:

Rehearsals during fall break are Thursday, 9-5 and Friday, 9-3. There are no rehearsals Monday-Wednesday.

October 14th is our last home football game and is senior night. We hope to perform our show in its entirety that night. We will also leave this game immediately after our halftime performance, because...

...October 15th is ISSMA Regional and we will be assigned to the Evansville site. This will be an extremely long day for our students due to the distance we are traveling.

October 21-22 is BOA Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. We are currently 4th on the waitlist for that show. If we are unable to attend, we will compete at Whiteland on that Saturday. I will share information as soon as it is made available to me regarding that weekend.

Moving forward, marching band families will receive a weekly newsletter from me on Sundays with information for the upcoming week including full Saturday itineraries. You'll start seeing sign-up genius forms for meals/chaperoning/pit/prop and other items as well. I know August was a bit of a black hole as far as information was concerned, but now that we are entering show season, the pendulum may swing the other way a bit.

Fall Concessions Sign Up

Thank you to all of you that have stepped up!! & Thank you, in advance, to those that have yet to. We really REALLY appreciate everyone's support!!

There are still plenty of available slots - some days have no volunteers.

** IMPORTANT **

If you sign up for a shift, please add it to your personal calendar. We have had several no-shows when we are counting on the help.

** IMPORTANT **

We are seeing many familiar faces on the sign up. This only runs smoothly if everyone takes their turn. If everyone helps, this is so very simple. To burden the same people over an over is not how this is intended to go - and is a recipe for burning out that core of helpers.

If you have yet to sign up - pLeAsE click the link and sign up for a volunteer shift.

Highlights:

  • The Band program keeps 100% of the proceeds of the events we work (up-sell that candy!)
  • No experience necessary
  • Earn up to $25 per shift to apply to your Student Acct (already paid for this year? Credits roll over into the next season, or even the next school year)
  • Open to anyone over the age of 12 (friends, family, neighbors)
  • This is our year to run Fall Concessions. Next year it will be athletics turn. Take advantage of these credits now. Next year, the opportunities will be reduced

Got a big family? Sign everyone up to take a big event and earn all your credits in one big swoop!

FAN ANGEL FUNDRAISER - Update

Our FanAngel donation drive is off and running. THANK YOU to everyone who got emails and phone numbers entered. In the first 80 hours, we raised an incredible $9,175!!! This donation drive continues for another two weeks.

FanAngel shared with Mr. Carney that, statistically, we can expect to earn 60-70% of our donations in the first 4-5 days, so please consider sharing our campaign on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media outlets with a message asking for folks to take a look and to consider helping out a great group of kids. If you didn't enter any emails/phone numbers and would still like to, you are able to do so. Those messages will be sent immediately after entering, though, so I recommend that you contact people prior to entering any information.

If you need more information, please reach out to Mr. Carney .
