Franklin 411
Issue #12 - December 4, 2022
A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
And just like that, it's December and one third of our year is nearly over. The first marking period will be ending on Wednesday. Report cards will be available on Genesis on Friday, December 16th. I will be sending home more information regarding report cards next week. Students successfully finished fall enrichment classes. Thanks to the PTO for organizing this opportunity once again for our children. I am excited to attend the 5th grade winter concert on Tuesday evening. The students have been working so hard! The Holiday Shop is back and will be held on Thursday.
I have been in communication with the Summit Police Department regarding our traffic concerns during arrival and dismissal particularly at the crosswalk on Blackburn Place and Blackburn Road. They are working on providing additional safety measures; however, please remember that the police department has established walking routes which ensures that students are crossing roads that are manned by crossing guards. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a crossing guard, the police department is hiring. Here is the application. As a reminder, you cannot park within 50 feet of the interaction on Blackburn Place. The line of sight is diminished for pedestrians and motorists alike. This has especially been an issue at dismissal. Lastly, please communicate to your babysitters, nannies, relatives, etc who pick up your children that they cannot park on Blackburn Road opposite of the school. Let's work together as a community to watch out for each other and to acknowledge that we all just want our children to get to and from school safely.
The highlight of my week is when I get to go into the classrooms and spend time with your children. Once a teacher, always a teacher... so for me, it has and will be about the students. But I have to say, our teachers are amazing! Franklin is a truly a special place!
I hope this holiday season is full of love, joy and good health for you and your family!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Please keep your child home if he/she is sick.
See below for COVID testing recommendations and follow the NJ Department of Health's Standard School Exclusion Guidelines for all other illnesses.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19, immediately contact your child's school secretary or school nurse. Please click on the "Reporting" tab and receive additional information related to your child's diagnosis.
During medium and high (yellow and orange) community levels, the NJ Department of Health recommends COVID testing when symptomatic (Union County is currently yellow). It is recommended that students who who have two or more symptoms from category A, or at least one symptom from category B, test for COVID.

COVID QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION GUIDELINES

Students returning to school on day 6 will be required to wear a mask at school on days 6-10 (Unless they present a negative COVID test on days 6 and 8). Please contact your school nurse to confirm all return dates. Virtual instruction is no longer available during COVID isolation.
