Quarter Work Cut Off - October 20th.

The last day for students to turn in any assingments and retakes will be on October 20th. After that date, students will then progress to all work in Quarter 2. This helps students with staying on track with work from quarter to quarter and being able to focus on current work..

  • The end of first quarter is quickly approaching. 2nd quarter begins Monday, October 25th. We urge parents to help their students review 2nd quarter schedules in PowerSchool on Oct 23rd and 24th so they are ready to follow their new schedules Monday, October 25th. Due to class sizes and availability, the possibility for schedule changes will be mainly limited to semester long elective courses.

From Nurse Hart!

Hello Parents! My name is Marla Hart. I am new to Meridian Middle this year and have loved working with your kids! At times, the high traffic in the nurse's office has prevented some students from getting the attention they deserve. I am hoping we can work together on some guidelines that will be better for all students' safety.

In middle school students are allowed to carry one dose of advil/ibuprofen or tylenol/acetaminophen for headaches, menstrual cramps, or pain from braces, etc.

They can self-administer and avoid my office where they might be around someone who is sick.

Students are allowed to visit me on their own time during break or lunch but may not come to the nurse's office during passing periods or class time without a pass from their teacher. Thank you for your help and for all that you do! Have a great day!

To minimize the spread of illness, PLEASE do not send your student to school if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever greater than 100.0 F
  • Prevalent cough, sore throat, or chest/nasal congestion
  • Chills and/or sweats
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Extreme fatigue, muscle aches, or an overall feeling of unwellness

Just as a reminder, the health office does not carry antacids, allergy medication, or cough drops. Students are allowed and encouraged to carry and self-administer a one day’s dose of over the counter (OTC) medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or Tums with parental consent. Medication must be in original packaging or container and can be stored in student’s locker or backpack.

Important Covid Information

If your student is ill or has had an exposure, please refer to the links below: "Exposed: How to Quarantine" and "Symptoms/Illness Flowchart." These links provide District guidance on both subjects.

Attendance Line

  • Your child is sick or going out of town and you need to report their absence.
  • Your child has an appointment and you need to check them out early.
  • Please limit calls to our Main Office number for non-attendance related needs so we may better serve our parents and students. Thank you!
  • If you question an absence, please reach out to your child's teacher directly via email.

NO FOOD DELIVERIES

The main office will NOT accept food deliveries at the school from an outside agency. If your student does not have a lunch, they are able to get a free lunch in the cafeteria. Students are able to get 1 free breakfast or break snack and 1 free lunch daily.

Parent Involvement Policy

Research shows that children are most successful when their parents are supportive of their schoolwork and experience. We are happy to have parents review our Parent Involvement Policy, and provide feedback as part of the MMS Title 1 Program. Parents can use the link or directly email any feedback they have in regard to how our Title 1 program at MMS can continue to support families during this unique time.

Remote Learning Procedures

If your student misses a class for being ill, quarantine, or has an excused absence, teachers use the class TEAMS to give the opportunity for students to not miss out on instruction and assignments.

Teachers will do the following each week.

1. Post an agenda in TEAMS for the week.

2. Invite students to the live class period/or provide a recorded video of direct instruction for the class time.

3. Assignments will be through TEAMS.

4. All assessments will be taken at the school.

If you have questions on the class team, please contact that individual teacher.

MMS PTSO!!!! We need your help!

Hello parents, teachers, and students!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! THE 2021/2022 is here! The PTSO and Meridian Middle School is ready to jump start the new school year. The parent teacher student organization is an opportunity for everyone to come together to help make MMS the best it can be. PTSO has continually been able to fund teacher grants through our fundraising efforts. Although this last year did not see that, we are ready to jump back in and get started again . We are looking for volunteers who are willing to participate in activities such as teacher appreciation, turning point celebration for outgoing eighth graders, and concessions that will fund those teacher grants just to name a few . We are looking for leaders and members that want to contribute and improve upon our sense of community at MMS.

We are currently looking for a President, Vice President, Secretary and lots and lots of volunteers!! If you are interested please contact Tessa Jones at TessaPjones@yahoo.com or Shawna Gallin at shawna.gallian@gmail.com

Parent Challenge- Make someone's day!

I am reaching out to our parents for a small favor. We are now into a month of school and our MMS teachers and staff have done an amazing job kicking off the school year doing amazing things. They have continued to focus on their students and learning through another extremely difficult year. My request is to simply email a teacher or staff member today or tomorrow and just let them know how much you appreciate them. It is HARD work right now and their job, like many others, have changed drastically over the last 18 months. We have an amazing staff and I would love for them to feel the appreciation that you have for them. I cannot express to you how much this would mean to them. Thank you for taking a minute out of your day!
