CMS Tribe Talks

July 28, 2022

Parents and students,

The administration, faculty and staff of Centre Middle School are looking forward to having a great year. Hopefully, we can get back to normal this year after having so much time under Covid restriction and pandemic guidelines. I can't wait to get the children in the building and start the process that our team has worked so hard to plan for this upcoming school year.

Casey Young,

Tribe Talks Open House

We want to get to KNOW your family!

We at CMS feel that over the past few years, the COVID restrictions have made it difficult for schools and familes to form REAL connections. We want to change that this year!

On the following dates, CMS will be returning to the TRIBE Talks Format of open house.

Monday, Aug. 15:

  • 5th and 8th Grades
  • 5:30-7:00

Tuesday, Aug. 16:

  • 6th and 7th Grades
  • 5:30-7:00

Families will begin in the gym at 5:30 on their designated nignt for a welcome from administration, followed by a brief Title I information meeting. Parents and students will then be dismissed to the student's homeroom, where each subject area teacher will spend a few minutes introducing themselves, their content, and school procedures, followed by a brief Q&A session.

***Students who paid the locker donation during the previous week will receive their locker number from their teacher at the end of their grades' TRIBE Talk. The school will be open until 7:30 to allow students to setup/ decorate/ practice opening lockers.

5:30- 5:45 Welcome/ Title I meeting

5:45-6:30 TRIBE Talks Sessions:

Families will report to student's homeroom for grade level tribe talks.Teachers will rotate through each classroom, and give a brief informational session about their content and expectations.

6:30-7:30 Locker time and Q&A with teachers

We know that this is offered a week after school begins, however, we want to be able to have time to get to know your child so that we can better meet the needs of families, and address questions and concerns.

If you are concerned about your child transitioning to a new grade and would like to come in to visit prior to school beginning, please contact an administrator. We will be glad to schedule a tour or answer any questions.
