Tiger Family Newsletter
The Week of May 21-25
Hello Tiger Families!
What an exciting time we're having in #OurHouseTES!! This past Thursday, we celebrated our 5th graders as they prepare to take that big step of becoming a CTMS Wolf. I was so proud of each and every one of our biggest Tigers. From speaking to an audience of over 300 to performing songs to MCing Continuation, our kids proved once more that there is a leader in each of us. This upcoming week there are even more special days...Field Day, Parr Park days, class celebrations and more! It is a special time of the year for all of our kids!
I hope you're having a wonderful week!
Proud to be your principal,

K-2 CALA Update!
Greetings parents:
What an incredible learning journey this year has been! We enter our fourth year of CALA with students demonstrating great proactivity and incredible growth. Our students have learned about the art and culture of Central America, the Caribbean and beyond in both English and Spanish including demographic locations, capitals, cities, artists, foods, main characteristics of each country and more. Your students have blossomed into not only proactive artists but also wonderful creative leaders. We are so very proud of them! Please continue to support them at home with their creative and cultural journey. Thank you so much for all you have done to promote our wonderful program. We cannot do it without you!

A Note from the Nurse
It's the end of the year! I can't believe it.
Please come by the nurse's office to pick up any medication your child may have in the clinic. If your child has an inhaler, nebulizer treatment and or epi-pen they can be picked up or sent home the last day of school. Any medication not picked up at the end of the day on 5/31 will be destroyed. Please notify the school nurse if you have any questions.
Now that that the temperature is warmer and more students are wearing shorts, make sure they are at the proper length. When arms are to the sides shorts need to be longer than the middle finger. Please see pages 44-46 in the Student/Parent handbook 2017-18 for further information on the dress code.

You can still sign up!
There is still time to sign up for TES PTA! The membership is $10 per adult and $5.50 per student and it goes to TES. Your paid membership raises our membership number & helps fund events at school. Did you know that students may also join? What a great leadership opportunity!
Go to www.joinpta.org or send money to school!
A Note From Dr. Ryan on the NEW STADIUM!
Good afternoon,
As we wrap up another great school year in GCISD, we are already looking ahead to next fall and the re-opening of Mustang Panther Stadium. I am sure that most of you have observed the progress on the facility while driving down Highway 26, but I am also sure that many of you have asked the question, “will this be ready by August?”
This year, Texas had a significant amount of rain, compounded with high winds, which has unfortunately delayed the completion date for the project. We have been working diligently with our football coaches and their respective opponents to make any necessary adjustments to the schedule. As a result, we have made the following changes:
Week One:
August 30: Grapevine v. Azle at Dragon Stadium
August 31: Colleyville Heritage v. North Forney at Dragon Stadium
Week Two:
September 7: Grapevine v. Abilene Cooper at Apogee Stadium (UNT)
September 7: Colleyville Heritage v. Carroll at Dragon Stadium
Week Three:
September 13: Colleyville Heritage v. Trinity at Pennington Field
September 14: Grapevine v. Northwest at Northwest Stadium
Week Four:
September 21: Bye week for both teams
At this time, the first planned home game for the 2018 season is the Colleyville Heritage homecoming game against Newman Smith High School on September 28.
We understand that this is not ideal for our families, fans and especially our players; however, the weather and its impact on construction is beyond our control. We have worked with neighboring districts to have great places for our students to perform and I am confident that our students, fans and community will show up and support our teams during these first few weeks of the season.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during the stadium construction. It will all be worth it when we are enjoying the performances from our students at the new Mustang Panther Stadium!

Ride Change, Doctor's Appointments and Emergency Care for Late Pickups
Ride Changes:
The school will follow the direction you provided about how your child gets home each day. If there is a change to this, you must notify the office in one of the following ways:
Send a written note with your child with details for how he or she will get home that day.
Email maria.reyes@gcisd.net and kimberly.becerra@gcisd.net with details for how you child will be picked up prior to 2:00 p.m.
Call the office 817-251-5770 prior to 2:00 p.m.
Changes cannot be made by text messages or calls to teachers. Teachers are working with your children during the school day and we can’t ensure that information will get to the office.
If your child has a doctor's appointment that requires leaving school early:
- Please notify the office the day before the appointment so the office has time to prepare necessary checkout for you.
- Pick up your child prior to 2:30 for early release. Because of the size of our school, we are not able to process early pickups after this time. This is a shared policy across GCISD elementary campuses.
- Send a doctor's note in with your child the following day so that we are able to excuse the partial absence.
If you have an emergency and are not able to pick up your child(ren) by 3:20:
- Your child(ren) will be taken to KidzU for supervision at which time an emergency care fee is charged.
- KidzU is located at the Timberline Annex, across from the LAC.
- Unless there are unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, our car rider dismissal line is cleared by 3:20.
- If possible, please call the office to alert us of the emergency.
