Principal's News
I have been fortunate to attend the Lutheran Principals' Association Conference recently and must say, didn't realise how much I had missed the connection of face to face professional learning and networking.
Part of the conference was focussing on the history of the Lutheran Church and Lutheran Education in Australia. With the conference being based in the Adelaide Hills we were certainly in the right place for such a topic! What stood out to me with our early Church and Education Pioneers was their tenacity and grit! When times were tough, when our schools were forced to close for a period during World War 1, when our Church and congregations faced political challenges, our Church pioneers kept strong to their word and strong to their faith. In 1838 Pastor August Kavel started a wave of migration from Germany, immigrating his whole congregation! By 1900, one in ten South Australians had a German background.
Today, Lutheran Education has over 80 schools and college's across Australia and a growing number of Early Childhood Centre's. To walk in the footsteps of our early pioneers and sit in the Churches and school rooms they built was a privilege. To think of their determination and mission of the Lutheran Church is inspiring.
I walked away filled with hope and thanks. I am so thankful that these early pioneers believed in their calling and mission, that they fought to grow our Church and our schools in Australia. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to serve in God's schools and share His schools with our children and families. I am thankful for our College and all of our Lutheran schools and ECC's.
What a blessing our Church and it's early pioneers are to our communities today.
