End of Year Information

Audition & Other Details

A Note From Your Directors

Below you will find a lot of information regarding some of our end of year procedures. First off, thank you for your patience as there is still a lot of changes and things that need to be sorted out by our Fine Arts administration at the district level. As we get more details we will pass them along.

As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions and thank you for your support and encouraging your student to practice!

Thank you,

-Mr. Wood, Ms. Hoffman, Mr. Seymour, & Mr. Martinez

SMSBPA Booster Board

Are you interested in serving on the SMSBPA Board? We will have multiple positions available as there are 8th graders moving up to High School. We are in the process of figuring out how to nominate and vote before the end of the year- but please let Mr. Wood know if you are interested. Our top needs will be treasurer and concession stand coordinator. It is a great team and we would love to have your help! woodc@friscoisd.org

6th & 7th Audition Update

Below is a link to our audition information and audition music. Note that the links below are only for current 6th and 7th grade students as all 8th graders should be looking at the packets from their high school. Brass and woodwind players will need to prepare the four lines of music and two scales of their choice. Percussionists will need to prepare both the snare and mallet song.

All students should upload a video of them playing the recording by May 15th. Audition results will be posted the following week at www.staleyband.org/audition.

Memorial High Audition Info

HERE IS THE LINK to find information for the 2020-2021 Memorial High School Band Audition. Submission deadline for all students will be Friday, May 1 in Google Classroom. Please be sure to submit your materials on time so that the band directors can work with MHS counselors to finalize schedules for next year. Good luck and happy practicing!! Note that the google class code in the packet is incorrect. It is actually 2cnnch5- also log in with your FISD student email account. If you have any questions please email Mr. Nitsch or Ms. Pyle.

Frisco High Audition Info

Frisco Band Auditions for the 2020-21 school year- recorded submissions to be uploaded between May 10 and May 15: Brass and Woodwind students, click here to download and print/save your audition scales and etudes! (Note: PERCUSSION students will be receiving materials and completing their audition at a later date). The audition packet cover page has instructions for uploading your recordings. The BEST way for students to prepare for their audition is through private lessons with their lessons teacher- many teachers are still teaching remotely during social distancing. If your student was not already enrolled in private lessons, we invite them to get a head start with the teacher for their instrument at FHS. Contact Mr. Simon for information (simond@friscoisd.org).

Instrument Check In

We are still waiting for guidance regarding our end of year check in. That being said, if your child is using a school owned instrument and is coming back to band next year- our tentative plan will be for them to keep their instrument over the summer. This will minimize the need for you to come up to the school just to check out a different instrument. We will plan to clean, organize, and upgrade any instruments towards the start of the new school year.

If you are using school equipment and you are an 8th grader or not returning to band next year there will be a plan in place to drop off your instrument under the guidelines provided by FISD and our school administration. We will let you know what that plan is and the timeline when we have more details.
