Campus Connections

Message from Jeff and Yolanda
Take an opportunity to watch this short video clip highlighting Mike Rowe, host of “Dirty Jobs,” speaking with Tucker Carlson of Fox News as he highlights the need to “Make Work Cool Again” in order to address the skills gap.
Each one of us makes an impact when we share what we do at Lorenzo Walker. Whether it be out in the community at events such as Kiwanis, Golden Apple or Round Table discussions; tours of our campus such as Rotary, Leadership Collier, Leadership Marco, or school board members; 5th grade tours of our programs that influence future students to attend LWTHS and LWTC; or high school tours which give students who want learn a high wage career which leads to jobs. This week our very own 10th graders will be visiting the tech areas and making a decision which not only will impact their next two years of high school but possibly their lifetime. Be proud of what your programs have to offer and show them why it is a good choice.
What we are doing each day is important to address the issues that Mike Rowe talks about in his interview. People are hearing the message around Collier County, one example is the fact that we reached a milestone by having over 500 applications for high school students wanting to attend LWTHS and LWTC. Acceptance letters went out this weekend. Word is getting out and people are taking notice. We are no longer the “best kept secret” in Collier. Your time, effort and energy is truly appreciated and has made a difference. The quality of our programs, tours and community efforts correlates to the type of student that chooses to study at Lorenzo Walker Technical High School and Lorenzo Walker Technical College! Keep up the great work of “Making Work Cool Again”!
