Newhall School District Policy on Cell Phones, i-Watches, and Gizmos

Dear Meadows Families,

We are well into the school and we would like to remind you of our district-wide policy with regard to electronic devices. We acknowledge that students have cell phones and some of our students have moved into wearing Smartwatches, Gizmos and VTech watches as well. Students are certainly able to wear these devices to and from school, but not while on campus during school hours. If said device is used as a tracking device for safety reasons before and after school for your child, please remind your students to put this device on at dismissal as a part of his/her routine.

In exclusion of purposes for supporting a student with an IEP in place, wearable electronic devices are not allowed during the school day as it mirrors the idea of a cell phone and can be a listening and/or recording device, which is not allowed. Education code section 51512 prohibits the use by any person, including a pupil, of any electronic listening device in any elementary or secondary school classroom. Our district handbook specifically states that we will regulate the use of such devices during the school day (pages 19-20).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank You for Supporting Meadows and the APEX Fundraiser

Dear Meadows' Families,

Thank you for your generosity towards the Apex Fundraiser! The Meadows Foundation appreciates your support, as do our students. Your Foundation donations are providing a vibrant Accelerated Reader program, two spring musicals, after-school enrichment classes, and upcoming educational assemblies we know our students will enjoy. We are able to offer these special programs and will continue the expansion of these enrichment opportunities due to your generosity.

-Dr. Juliet Fine, Principal of Meadows
