The U.K. region has a lot to offer, such as golfing, swimming, going sight seeing at the castles in Ireland and Scotland, and so much more, but by far England is the best place to travel for all of these things. England has unique foods, lots of tourist attractions, and even the royal family. Some popular things to do when in England include, taking a ride on the London Eye, going to Buckingham Palace, and gazing at Big Ben. England is famous for their fish and chips, come on and have a try, there amazing! If your interested in taking an exciting trip to a foreign country with lots of character and amazing tourist attractions, then England is the place for you.

Climate

The climate in England is cool in the winter and hot in the summer. The weather changes practically every day so if you plan on taking a trip to England, i would pack clothes for every occasion such as rain, hot sun, cool temperatures, warm temperatures, ect. The best months to travel to England are mostly in May, June, September, and October because the weather is most pleasant during this time and has the least amount of rainfall. July and August are also good months temperature wise but they tend to be two of the wettest months all year.

Popular holidays in England include: Bonfire night which is celebrated on the 5th of November, bonfire night is celebrated because of a plan to blow up the parliament and King James I on the day that the parliament was set to open for the first time. This attempt of violence was because Guy Fawks thought that he was not being treated fairly by the king, so he attempted to blow him up along with the parliament. However, he did not succeed in doing so and therefore Bonfire Night is celebrates how Guy Fawks did not blow up King James I and the parliament. Another popular holiday is Pancake day which is celebrated on the 4th of March. Pancake day (or Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent) it is celebrated in most countries by consuming pancakes. Christmas is the most popular holidays celebrated in England and is celebrated on the 25th of December, Christmas celebrates Jesus' Birthday.

Some major things that occurred in England's history include: In 55B.C.- 54B.C. Julius Ceasar lead two invasions in what is now Britain. In 1215, King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta which gave English citizens basic rights. During 1348-1350 the bubonic plague (or the Black Death) sweeps across England and killed off nearly 1/3 of the population. 1837-1901 Queen Victoria becomes Britain's longest-ruling monarch and during that time the country moves toward a democratic system of government. 1914-1918 Britain and its allies defeat Germany in World War I. During World War II, the Prime Minister Winston Churchill leads the British to victory over Germany, Japan, and Italy and in 1979 Margaret Thatcher becomes the first woman Prime Minister of England.

Famous People

One of the most famous people in England is Queen Elizabeth the II, she became famous at the age of 25 in February 1952 when her father passed away, although her coronation was not until june 1953. Another famous person in England is J.K. Rowling, the famous author of the Harry Potter series, she became famous for her writing in 1997 when she released the first book in the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Sir Winston Churchill was perhaps one of the most famous Prime Ministers of all time in England, he not only was an officer in the British Army, a writer, an artist, a historian, an orator, a noted statesman, and a British Conservative politician, but he also won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
