This week we have been learning about area and perimeter of shapes. We also did a shapes project (geometry). People did all sorts of designs like a baseball field, football field, a Disney cruise, space, the pool, a house, unicorn wonderland, a stage, and some people knitted it. What I am trying to say is that people can make a lot out of shapes. There are all types of shapes. Here are some shapes such as square, rectangle, hexagon, triangle, and pentagon. We also did area that is when you count the squares inside the shape. It is really close to perimeter and the perimeter is how long the outside of the shape measures. We hope you enjoyed our writing today.

Are You wondering what we are doing in writing? Well we are going to tell you! In writing this week we worked making our covers for our information books and some of the people are buddy editing and some of the people are on their final copy with lined paper. We made our covers in Powerpoint. We choose 1 to 3 pictures for our cover. If you choose 1 picture you have to cover your whole paper. The limit is 3. The people who are buddy editing read one person’s book out loud and when the person is reading the person who is listening can give thoughts and suggests to help the person improve their writing.

Science

In science we are learning about life structures. So far, we are learning about seeds. In our first lesson we cut open pods and counted the seeds in the pods. We also cut seeds out of apples, cherry tomatoes, peppers, watermelons, cantaloupe, and honeydew. The ones that had the most seeds were the honeydew, watermelon and the cantaloupe. On our second lesson we got to choose a seed. We had to choose from the sunflower, the bean, the pea, and the corn. Everybody in each group studies and observes one seed. Each group put six of each seed in a plastic container with bleached water (to prevent mold). After that we glued one of each seed and wrote the name of the seed and the person who is studying that seed. 3S can't wait to learn more!!!!!!
