Lemont HS hosts a STEM day for Middle School Students November 8, 6-8:30
Educational Foundation- Highlight on Teacher Grant
The 6th-grade students at Old Quarry are learning about how the structures in our body systems work together and develop. Our unit of study is called Structures and Functions. Students are able to use our new digital microscopes to investigate the structures and the cells that make them unique. They are able to explore life at micro and macro levels which will help them to better understand life at many different stages. As a part of our curriculums study of the stages of development, students get to use our hatchery systems to explore the life cycle of quails and chickens from the embryonic stage until adulthood. Students are engaged in the learning as they care for the quail, gather the eggs, place them in the incubator, and then watch the chicks hatch. Thanks to these new tools that support student learning and our science curriculum we have been able to open new doors to learning for our students!

PTO Fundraiser
Did you know that not ALL OQMS students can afford to attend the wonderful field trips that our students take in each grade level? Our PTO does an amazing job by sponsoring scholarships to ensure that ALL students are able to attend Whitepines, Springfield and other smaller trips. They raise these funds by fundraisers like mums and the Little Caesars. Please help them save money for scholarships by supporting the Little Caesars Pizza Kits. Thank you
