The Paw Print
Burke County Public Schools - Home of the Bears
Welcome back to everyone's favorite newsletter, The Paw Print! This week's Paw Print is being sent right before Halloween! The cover for this newsletter is supposed to be creepy, so just visualize walking through a haunted library!
While there are a lot of scary things in the month of October, the SCARIEST thing that could happen is our Bears not performing their best in school! Don't eat too much candy this weekend... we don't think it helps improve any grades! As always, Stay #BearBuilt!
The Paw Print can be viewed every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. The newsletter features sports updates, events in the community, and fun activities for the family... so stay tuned!

October 15th, the Burke County Public School’s School Nutrition Program hosted its Annual Feed My School Event and first-ever Farmer's Town Hall! Before enjoying a delicious lunch at Waynesboro Primary School, local farmers came together at our Teaching & Learning Center to talk about farming issues in today’s environment.
Georgia Ag Commissioner Gary Black and U.S. Representative Rick Allen were located at a table in the front of the room where they heard questions from local farmers. Also in attendance were staff from Senator Warnock's Office, staff from Senator Ossoff's Office, and The Washington Post.
Topics of discussion for the Farmer’s Town Hall:
· Farm Labor Challenges
· Agriculture Water Protection
· Environmental Regulations impacting farming
· Farm Bill 2023

OUR NUMBERS CONTINUE TO DROP!
Each Monday, we provide a report disclosing the number of positive COVID-19 cases within our school system. This report can be easily located on the homepage of our district website, www.burkeschools.org, or by clicking on the image above.
The Delta Variant is continuously on the rise so we continue to require our students and staff to wear their masks in and out of the building. Vaccines are the most efficient way to keep our community safe.
National Day Calendar
October 27 commemorates National Black Cat Day, perfect for the upcoming holiday! Burke County families can celebrate National Black Cat Day by staying clear of any ladders, broken mirrors, or open indoor umbrellas... I think we all can agree that we need all the good luck that we can get!
Word of the Day
We challenge you all to use this word as many times as you can this week, extra points if you use it in the right context, EVEN MORE points if you have to explain to somebody what it means!

Blackboard - notifications
The Blackboard mass notification system is useful to BCPS families and our faculty/staff because of its ability to deliver district-level and school-specific notifications.
The school system and schools use your student's information in Power School to send email, phone calls, text messages, and emergency notifications to families.
Efficiency depends greatly on parents/guardians providing us with correct phone numbers and email addresses.
