Note from the Principal
Another Fabulous Fall Festival
I would like to send out a huge THANK-YOU to our wonderful PTA and all of the volunteers that helped make this year’s Boone Fall Festival such a great success. It is always fun to see the children and adults enjoying a great community event. We had many visitors and returning students stop by. It was great evening filled with food, fun, and games. Although the weather wasn’t cooperative, a great time was had by all!!!!
Veterans Day Program
We will have our traditional Veterans Day recognition at 7:45 am in the school cafeteria on November 9th. All veterans and families are welcome. This is a wonderful family event when we have an opportunity to recognize those who are or have served in our Armed Forces. Each Veteran will have the opportunity to be recognized individually. Our PTA will also host a reception will be held immediately following the assembly in the school library.
Covington Middle Fine Arts Academy Program Information Night
The Covington Middle School Fine Arts Academy would like to invite all of the south elementary schools' 5th grade families to our Fine Arts Academy program information night on November 29 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Families will have the opportunity to learn more about the Fine Arts Academy, our Dual Language program, AVID, our Career and Tech programs, and our Dyslexia Middle School Project.
Please see the attached flyer for additional details.
Thanksgiving Break
Don’t forget that our Thanksgiving Break this year will be from November 19th through November 23rd.Counselor's Corner
Our next lesson will be a No Place for Hate activity as a part of earning our designation as a No Place for Hate school. I will be reading a book called The Colors of Us. The objective is for students to identify how they are alike and different from others. We will discuss how we can continue to embrace different cultures in our community and make everyone always feel welcome at Boone. Students will create a hand to represent themselves and identify a strength of theirs. You will get to see the final product on display.
Following this lesson, we will be doing the district's required bullying and personal safety lesson. The bullying lesson covers the definition of bullying and how to report and respond to bullying. For the safety lesson, please see the attached parent letter and additional resource for talking with your child about personal safety.
Last, but not least, I have included some general resources for parents. I highly recommend this website regarding media and safety.

If you are interested in presenting to a class or classes on either of these dates please email Ms. Lozo. Nicole.lozo@austinisd.org or call 512-841-5376.

Music Notes
It’s a busy season as we head into Thanksgiving and Christmas! Of course, “EVERYBUGGY” enjoyed the 2nd Grade’s fantastic performance of “BUGZ!” Whether the Lady Bugs, Butterflies, Army Ants or Stink Bugs were you favorite, you have to agree they “katydid” a good job!
Next up is 3rd Grade with “NUTS!” (A Celebration of the Circle of Life). They are learning a lot about nature and are in very good voice. They perform November 1st and 2nd. It’s BUSY in class just now as we put on the finishing touches.
4th and 5th Grade HONOR CHOIR is preparing for the Veteran’s Day Program. They will sing some traditional songs like “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Grand Old Flag” but have a couple of light hearted songs, too. “Fifty Nifty United States” is a great opportunity to learn all your states (ALL of ‘EM!) and “Yankee Doodle’s Pony” is a new take on an old favorite. They are also preparing several new pieces for a HOLIDAY CONCERT in mid-December. This is an after-school all volunteer group that puts in a LOT of extra work on top of their other responsibilities.
5th Grade is doing the Holiday Musical this year. “A BUGZ CHRISTMAS” will be just the right follow to the 2nd Grade “BUGZ!” performance—but 5th Grade BEWARE!! You have some big shoes to fill…
They attended a 5 hour rehearsal at the AISD Performing Arts Center, then performed a concert that evening. It was great to see how well they sang and were outstanding representatives for BOONE!
