FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION - NOVEMBER 2019
MICHAEL ALT APPOINTED TO BOARD OF EDUCATION
Webster Central School District (WCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Alt to the board of education. Mike was appointed by the board during its October 24 special meeting to serve the remainder of the term that will end on May 19, 2020, the district’s annual budget vote and board of education election. He replaces David Metzger, who resigned from the board in July 2019.
Mike has lived in the WCSD community for 30 years and is the president and founder of Altra Tech Consulting, Inc., where he assists companies in the areas of project management, commercialization, operations, and manufacturing. He began his career with the Eastman Kodak Company in 1980 where he served in various leadership roles, the last of which was director of Eastman Business Park (EBP). After retiring from Kodak in 2015, Mike continued sharing his business acumen as vice president of SIGNa Chemistry until 2018 when he founded his own company. During his time with Kodak, Mike developed and taught a contracting for engineering services curriculum to 500 engineers and served on many professional manufacturing and economic development advisory boards.
An active community volunteer and advocate for public education, Mike served as one of the initial council members of the Rochester Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative. He also worked with Rochester CSD to establish manufacturing internships for high school students and Monroe Community College to develop an onsite operator training program at EBP. Mike earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson University and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from RIT. He and his wife, Kelly, have two adult children, both of whom are Webster CSD graduates.
We welcome Mike to the board of education and appreciate his willingness to serve the One Webster community!
