"I Can" and "I Will"
I've heard a few questions this week about how we unwrap our TEKS. Please refer back to The Fundamental-5. I will be walking our new teachers through this for the next few weeks, but everyone else has been exposed to what we are looking for with these objectives. If you need a refresher or need things clarified I would encourage you to go through our brief overview of the book on Thursdays. I've also given overview of what an "I can" and "I will" statement should look like below:
As we are in classes, we are really looking at “I Can“ and “I Will” statements. Remember that the “I Can” statement is the objective that you are covering for the day – based on the TEKS. The “I Will” statement is the way that the students will demonstrate their learning. “I can analyze major causes of the American Revolution, focusing on the Intolerable Acts.” “I will create a double bubble map using Popplet, comparing and contrasting any two of the intolerable Acts.” Be sure and tie your objective to your focus TEKS and your essential question/enduring understanding. This is a critical part of framing the lesson (Fundamental Five)!
