Welcome our new administrators Mr. Bemus and Mr. Green!
It’s been so helpful having their assistance with all of the things we are working on to get things ready for the new school year! Soon you will meet them in person, but for now you can put a face with the names.
Staying connected & in-touch...
Please stay connected with your email from time to time as there have been recent updates to all staff from Dr. Gausman regarding our return-to-learn. As we plan for a variety of options to instruction, we will continue to evaluate our master schedule. Families who are choosing the virtual option are asked to acknowledge this choice through online verification by August 1st. After that date, we hope to have a clearer idea of that impact on our master schedule. We understand many are anxious for the master schedule to be shared. The goal is to share that soon after August 1st once we know more about who will be teaching virtually.
Maintenance progress...
Our maintenance staff have been hard at work preparing the building for staff and students to return. The campus looks amazing thanks to their efforts! They are starting to put things back together and wrap up final projects. If you want to work in your classroom or office, please email administration so we can check with them to see about the availability of your space. Your fobs are still not active, so please email or call the school before coming so we can be prepared to let you in the building.
Successes & Celebrations...
The ACT event last Saturday was a huge success! We had a record number of students at our site testing. A big thank you to Abby Myers for coordinating this event, and also to all of the others that helped that day.
This Saturday West High will host a graduation commencement to honor our 2020 graduates. It will be wonderful having this opportunity to recognize all of their hard work with their families and friends present!
Summer School, Laptop Checkout, & Back-to-School Night
Summer school is right around the corner so we are offering an early laptop check out for students who have completed online verification. That event will be held next Tuesday, July 28th from 9:00-3:00. I want to thank Kari Shine, along with two of our teachers new to West High, Jen Jorgensen and Megan Pratt, as they will be carrying out summer school instruction for West High School. Summer school will begin on August 3rd and will continue through August 14th.
During that second week of summer school we will be scheduling three back to school laptop check out and online verification assistance events for all students on August 12th & 13th from 10:00-6:00, and on August 14th from 10:00-2:00.
Back-to-School night this year will focus on welcoming our incoming freshman. The details of this event are still being determined.
Teachers are asked to either assist with one of the laptop check out events in August, or Back-to-School night. A future update will include a link for staff to sign up.
Professional Development
Many of our teachers have been participating in the professional development opportunities regarding online instruction, or virtual instructional planning. Instruction will look different this year for all of us. We are hopeful that those who have engaged in this professional development and planning will share their knowledge with our entire staff. Please know we will make every effort to incorporate this in our upcoming professional development calendar as we plan
for the new school year.
Message from Miss Rieken...
The campus continues to become more alive as our activities have resumed practices. It’s so refreshing to hear the noise of kids in the building again. These sights and sounds bring even more excitement to have our staff all back in person! Please stay in touch with questions, and know I appreciate them! This is such a unique time, questions help us better prepare for the days to come.
