Doing Our Best Every Day

The Hillside staff's commitment to the children and families of our school is that we will do our very best every day to ensure students are challenged in a welcoming environment with as much support as we can offer them. We have high expectations for Hillside students, and we will do all we can to support student achievement and success. We believe the development of the whole child is of paramount importance, and we will work with families tirelessly to ensure the success of all students.

Hillside's school wide mission: We will find effective and powerful ways to meet the needs of all learners. Thank you for partnering with us to achieve success for every student; we couldn't do it without the support of our families.

Cynthia Bailey, Principal of Hillside

Keeping Students Safe After School

Parents and Guardians:

Our longstanding rule at Hillside is that students head home at dismissal. It is very difficult for us to supervise students who choose to play during the dismissal window (3:30-3:45 or 3:00-3:15 on Wednesdays). Staff is already out front working to keep kids safe and to keep traffic flowing. There should be no students on the upper playground. Students who choose to play on the lower playground after school do so without supervision or support from staff, which can sometimes lead to conflict or accidents.

If you choose to allow your child to play on Hillside grounds after the dismissal window, please consider supervising. Students can get into conflict, and that rarely goes well without a supportive adult.

During school hours, we do all we can to maintain adult presence when students are together during unstructured times. Supervision keeps students accountable and helps us to head issues off before they become problems.

Thank you for helping us to maintain a safe environment at our school. We are committed to order, safety, and, above all, educating all children.

Cynthia Bailey, Principal

Help us to keep pedestrians safe!

During arrival and dismissal, there are some folks who are crossing the circle drive in the middle of heavy traffic to make it over from the sidewalk in front of Hillside to the lower parking lot. This is a very dangerous practice, as there is lots of traffic, especially during arrival and dismissal. Please help us to keep Hillside Tigers safe by using the sidewalk that goes around to the parking spaces across from the school or down to the lower parking lot! Thank you for helping us to model safe pedestrian practices for our young ones.
