PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome)

What is it?

PMS is a group of symptoms prior to a menstrual cycle. It can include irritability, nervousness, mood swings, and weight gain.


PMS has been found to be connected with changed in hormones before the menstrual cycle. For an unknown reason some women have worse PMS symptoms that others.

Rx: Medication and diet

Prognosis: Usually ends 3-4 days after menstruation starts

Population Affected

About 3 out of 4 women are affected, the severity of symptoms possibly changed from month to month.
